spiffycalgal Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I need a hotel room in USE or USW on 10/21/2006. I'm running in the Nike marathon that starts in Union Square and ends at Golden Gate Park. I assume it's a busy weekend since thousands of people are expected to participate in this race. I don't want to pay more than $125 for a 4*.I followed the following bid strategy and was rejected for all.Select 4* USEBid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone (Civic Center)Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone (Cathedral Hill)Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone (South San Francisco)Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.I closed my browser, reopened it, and went back to Priceline. I started bidding with 4* at USW, but was told that my bid could not be processed because I had already placed a request for the same trip and need to wait 24 hours. What did I do wrong?
thereuare Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'm going to guess that you mistakenly added USW as a zone instead of (or in addition to) your bidding during the previous cycle. After 24 hours from your last bid, this is how i would bid...Select 4* USE...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USW...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USE and USW...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105.Let us know how the above goes and we'll take it from there.Hope your training is going well :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
spiffycalgal Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 I followed the bidding strategy above and was rejected for all. I am going to try again in 24 hours. I saw a 4.5* on Hotwire for $152 yesterday, so I may just buy that if Priceline doesn't work out. Or, I may just settle for a 3*.Thanks, thereuare, for asking about my training. It's going pretty well!
thereuare Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 To go up to your limit of $125 (not sure if you've raised this or not based upon the Hotwire offer):Select 4* USE...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USW...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USE and USW...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
spiffycalgal Posted March 15, 2006 Author Report Posted March 15, 2006 I rebid again today and was rejected again. Went up to $125.going to think about it and see what I will do next. I may just settle for a Botique hotel if one is available for less.
spiffycalgal Posted May 5, 2006 Author Report Posted May 5, 2006 Hilton San Francisco Financial District 750 Kearny St. San Francisco, California 94108(415) 433-6600 1 room(s) @ $103.00 per night x 1 night(s) $103.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $21.31 Hotel Subtotal $124.31 Total Price $124.31 Some hotels may apply additional charges for incidentalfees such as parking. Prices are in $USD I checked the Hilton website and their internet rate was $199 for the same night. :) Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Spa Services, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Laundry Facilties.I had tried to bid for hotels in the USE and USW area for the same weekend a few months ago Previous post and didn't have much luck getting something within my price range. Glad I waited and continued to search for the best deal. The Hilton is just a few blocks away from where I need to be in Union Square, so it works out well.
