MrTickTock Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Started with 3*, no luck at $40 and $50. Dropped to 2.5 stars in just Midway zone. $40 resulted in counteroffer of $52. Rejected counter, offered $46 in different account.Best offer on web for same hotel & date is currently $99 (AAA).
thereuare Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Midway is notoriously a tough area to bid.Tight inventory and higher bids needed than one would typically expect. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
MrTickTock Posted October 31, 2003 Author Report Posted October 31, 2003 Thereuare, perhaps Midway is relatively difficult, but I'm still pretty happy with a 54% discount off the best available rate. I wonder if ATA and Southwest have caused increased traffic to Midway (and thus, more demand for hotel rooms) now that so many corp. travel departments are favoring the discount carriers wherever possible.
thereuare Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 TickTock,I wasn't clear in my post above <sorry>... I meant you got a good deal in a notoriously tough area. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
