mil12177 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 My parents are flying up to DC for Memorial Day Weekend and we will be driving up to NYC to catch a Broadway Show, probably Lion King, and will be staying the night on 5/29. I have previously stayed at the Hilton Times Square via Priceline for $120 but I have a couple of questions:1. Does it change anything if I am wanting 4 people in one room? Is there any guarantee I would get 2 beds? Will I be limiting my options? 2. Since I am driving are there any hotels that I could stay at in Jersey that would be car friendly with easy access to NYC? Are the trains safe at night? Thanks for any help you can provide!Andrew
thereuare Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 1) See the related link in our Priceline FAQ... it is not recommended to use Priceline for quad occupancy in NYC (although you could use Hotwire)2) you'll have to define 'car friendly'... is that free parking or just reasonable parking fees? mil12177 Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 "Car Friendly" simply means a reasonably priced place to park, I don't expect free parking, thanks!
thereuare Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 ... and what about #1 above... did you still want to try Priceline for one room? There are NJ options available depending upon your budget... what is your budget, including approximate parking charges? Would you still be looking for one room for four people? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mil12177 Posted May 2, 2006 Author Report Posted May 2, 2006 1) Based upon my previous experience $120 seems to be a good deal in NYC for the Times Sq. area 4* (at least I think that is what the Hilton is). Hotwire currently offers a 3-star hotel in Midtown Central that is called a "Customer Favorite" for $178 with 4 people in one room. Therefore, my options would be the NJ priceline route or priceline for NYC with 2 rooms for the four of us for around $200, or hotwire for 3* at $178 for the 4 of us. If we stay in NYC, I figure I can park my car easier and cheaper in NJ and just train to NYC.
thereuare Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Therefore, my options would be...So of your options which route would you like to go? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mil12177 Posted May 2, 2006 Author Report Posted May 2, 2006 What range do you think I am going to be looking at for 2 rooms in NYC, near Times Sq. vs. NJ?
thereuare Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I would guesstimate that NJ will likely cost you about $50 less per room. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mil12177 Posted May 6, 2006 Author Report Posted May 6, 2006 Okay, we have made the decision to get 2 rooms with 2 adults in each room in the Times Sq. Midtown general area. It would be for one night, checking in on May 28th. What should my strategy be? We are budgeting for the $100-120 range per room, is that feasible? Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 ...in the Times Sq. Midtown general areaIs MTE, MTW, and UM/CPS acceptable to bid? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mil12177 Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 Yes, all three are fine...I'd even consider Midtown South if you think it would help. Otherwise I am completely fine with the three you mentioned. Thanks.
