G$Saver Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I started bidding last week at $100 increasing my bid by $5 each time (using the strategy Thereuare posted for binarynut on April 8, 2006), but was reject each time. I started bidding today in the Vancouver zone at $145. I received a counter offer to increase my bid by $22. I added a re-bid zone and increased my bid to $151 and it was accepted! Here's what I got:Pacific Palisades HotelCheck-In Date: Fri, June 16, 2006Check-In Time: After 03:00 PMCheck-Out Date: Mon, June 19, 2006Check-Out Time: 12:00 PMYour Offer Price: $151.00 (US dollars)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 3Subtotal: $453.00 (US dollars)Taxes & Service Fees:$90.29 (US dollars)Total Charges: $543.29 (US dollars) On-line rate for those dates is $223.56
thereuare Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the rest of the board. As you can see, it's usually not a good idea to follow a strategy presented for somebody else whose dates are different than your own (as may their bidding limit). It can lead to wasted bids, or worse, and overbid... somebody using your win above for their own dates (for which rates are higher than usual) may bid too much if rates for their own dates are less. Ultimately look like a pretty good deal.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
