Priceline Hotel: 4* Las Vegas (Freemont Street) Golden Nugget

I am new to this board. I have been trying to "priceline" one night 5-13-06. I have bid up to 72 ($65 for strip on first bid, then $72 on second bid after adding downtown locations 4* or better. The $65 bid gave me no second chance but with the $72 bid I get a message that I can buy a room right now for $138.

I saw on the regular non bidding priceline that the Golden Nugget is only $99 on 5-13. I was hoping to score something better. I also booked the Nugget directly from their web site just in case for $109 including tax. The killer for me was that the website has a two night special for $79 per night on 5-12 and 5-13 with 100 in extra added value items. When I tried to book it I received a message that it was sold out.

I now have Harrahs for 5-10-06, 5-11-06, and 5-12-06 for $185 total. This breaks down as $45 per night for 5-10 and 5-11. It is double on 05-12 at $95 but can be cancelled and refunded. Then the Golden Nugget for one night at $109. and Paris for the 14th and 15th comped. All the paid rooms are refundable if I cancel 48 hours before check in. I also received an offer from Paris to receive a room for $200 not including taxes for the 13th. Should I buy the $200 Paris room?

Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated. I am especially not happy with the Nugget because the pool will be closed till summer.

Unfortunately i've re-read the above 3 times and don't understand which zones and star rating you are looking for.

If you're looking for Downtown can you do better than the Golden Nugget... it's thought by most to be the best hotel in the downtown area.

I've stayed at Harrah's and while they're pool is wet :) , it's not what i would consider 'above average'. It has a metal liner and you can feel the bounce and vibrations of others walking/jumping in the pool. (on the otherhand their hottub area is 'nice', but nothing posh or elegant)

I was trying to get something on the strip at 4 stars or better. I decided to enlarge the area to Downtown to get a second 4* bid.

It is now academic. I bid $82 for 4* in the strip and was rejected. I then rebid $84 at 4* adding the Fremont Downtown area. That bid was accepted. I think I am done bidding now. I doubt I could do better than what I have for 5-10 through 5-13.

RESULTS:

On 4-22-06, I bid $82 for 4* in the strip and was rejected. I again was offered a 4* for $138 immediately if I wanted to raise my bid.

I then rebid $84 at 4* adding the Fremont Downtown area. That bid was accepted. With tax and fees it came too $100 and some change.

I have been using the links here for most of my activity but placed the last bid on my cell via a link from priceline sent by email.

I won a room at The Golden Nugget for one night, 05/13/2006. I am about $8 dollars better off than my cancellable reservation. But I think I would rather have my cancellable reservation than this paid non cancellable room.
