TeddyRiley Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Greetings all,In the middle of planning a trip to Europe in Aug. Glad to report that I got the 5* Marriot in Prague (East) for $113/night using Priceline. I'm staying there from Aug. 10-15, 2006. I'm not sure if August is considered a slow month in Eastern Europe, but Priceline said that a 5* in the area would go for about $230ish.I placed my first bids yesterday, 3 tries from 100 - 105 - 110 and no luck.Today, my first bid was $107 and Priceline suggested I try increasing it by $22. Lucky me, I had previously read a post stating that you can usually get if for a price of about 60% of the difference suggested, so I wittingly declined to make such a "drastic" increase. My next bid was $113 (although I only meant to increase my bid by $5 - I don't know what's wrong with my math today). In any event, the 5* Hotel in Prague (East) is the Marriot. I look forward to my stay. And I did remember to use savingsbarn.comNow, i have Budapest and Vienna left to book.
thereuare Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Congratualtions on your win.Priceline's suggested retail price should always be ignored, but regardless this is a great deal for this property at nearly $100 less per nite than the Marriott's own website. Thanks for using the SB links to begin your bid.Have a great stay. If you need help with any bidding for the rest of your trip feel free to ask. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
