The hotel is very well located, one block away from Peachtree Street, two from the Westin, and three from the Mart. The arquitecture of the building is impressive :) (although I do not recommend it if you're afraid of hights :) ).

I paid $41 per day (about $141 for three days + taxes) through PL.

The rooms on the side of the front desk have a better view, and if you get a a room towards the opposite side of the entrance, you might be able to not close the curtains and sleep and ... with an spectacular view of the city at night (The ones on the side of the entrance have an office tower nearby that removes a little bit of privacy).

Valet parking on site is available for $20 per day (allows for ins and outs during the day). Cheaper rates are available nearby, $12 - $15 per day, but cannot remove the car.

The room had a small refrigerator and a safe box that would store a laptop and a few other gadgets. No charge for these. Internet access is $9.95 per day, although I had an unsecured wireless hotspot close enough :o (probably from the office building). A Publix is within 10 minutes walking.

The hotel is showing signs of age but at $41 plus $20 is still an excellent bargain considering the location and the architecture. Also, the room was very clean.

Bye,

2pi.

My husband and I just returned from the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta (5/26/04-5/29/04). Just another short description for those of you that are interested....

1. Parking at this hotel costs $20 a day (didn't know this until we arrived). I think that this should be taken into consideration when bidding for a hotel on Priceline. I wonder if Priceline indicates the amount for parking when you bid on a hotel (I didn't notice anything when we made the bid but maybe someone on this board is aware of their policy on stating the parking fees). The $20 fee covered valet parking (which was nice since you didn't have to wait for your car; you could call down and have them get it ready).

2. I called the hotel ahead of time and asked for a non-smoking room with a view on one of the top floors. They gave us a room on the 37th floor with a beautiful view of downtown (really spectacular). Just be polite when you call and they will try to please you. Remember to be courteous and to thank them.

3. The workout room is terrific and each locker room has a sauna (nice amenity after a hard workout). The men have a dry and a steam sauna. The women just had a dry sauna (although you could add water to the rocks to create a steam sauna).

4. The architecture on the inside of the hotel is interesting, however, the walls are made out of concrete (felt a little industrial). The rooms were decorated in a very traditional style (not my favorite). I would not have paid more than we did for the room, however, we felt that it was a good value considering the view. We also thought the bed was extremely comfortable (which was worth the price of the room alone in my opinion; it was a softer pillowtop-type mattress). The room comes with a refridgerator and a safe and cable tv and some pretty decent arabica coffee (the bath products were neutrogena). High speed access is $9.95 a day but it also includes free local and long distance (a great value). You really don't need to pay for access, however, as there is a free wireless hot spot in the adjacent Courtyard by Marriott (3 blocks or so). There is also a free wireless hotspot at the new McDonalds on Peachtree Ave (right down the street from Publix). There are several other wireless hotspots in the city that you can access if you have a wireless card.

Hope that helps. Have a great day!

REVIEW:

This hotel was in a great location. Cabs to Turner Field were always 7 bucks (Flat Downtown Rate) - except for one cabbie who tried to gouge us and then I handed him 7 dollars and told him he lost his tip.

The hotel seems a little old. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent place. However it really looks outdate. IMHO

The room was kinda small and vanity in the bathroom kinda makes it hard to navigate and we only had 2 folks. Did have several restaurants, and indoor/outdoor pool. However their rest. are SEVERELY overpriced. A beer at their sportsbar is more than 6 bucks. CRAZY! Needless to say we didn't eat there. I think the 4* rating on priceline is kinda stretching it, but for $60 you really can't complain with the downtown location.

We needed a downtown Atlanta hotel for one night, so I bid on Priceline a couple months in advance for our Feb.3 (Saturday night) stay, for a 4-star. After bidding lesser amounts, my bid of $79 was accepted for the Marriott Marquis. The lowest rate on the Marriott website for this hotel for this night was $149, so we were pleased with the price.

Unfamiliar with Atlanta, it took us a bit of wandering to find the hotel from the Convention Center (dumb me forgot to get directions before we went)...I guess I didn't think it would be too tough to find it since it was only a mile or two from the venue. My husband called the hotel as we were trying in vain to get to it on our own, and a female concierge somehow managed to confuse him even more, so we kept circling through construction-ridden streets until we found it, or rather, until a nice guy on a bike told us which street to turn down.

We pulled up to the front of the hotel and let valet take our rental car away, since that appeared to be the only way to do parking at this hotel. I believe the cost was $22 for a day, with in & out privileges.

Anyway, we checked in around 5:30 pm. Check-In was immediate and with a smile. The best kind of check-in to have! We received a non-smoking king room, as requested, on the 32nd floor (very cool!) Being height-wimps, it did take us a few rides before we got totally comfortable with the glass elevators. It really is a spectacular view of a spectacular atrium riding up and down!

The room was recently renovated, had a great view, and the bed/bedding was the very nice comfy ones that Marriott has been putting in all their hotels. Very much appreciated! One thing absent from the room itself that we found interesting was a lack of a clock/radio. I don
