LostInTranslation Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Boston seems very expensive...even compared to Japan, which is where I live. I was trying to get in the Cambridge area for a 4* or 3*, but after my first attempt and researching, it looked like Downtown would be convenient to MIT using the subway.I did not note the exact prices, but for Cambridge all 3* and 4* hotels (Hyatt,Marriott,Hotel@MIT) have been way over $200/night on the hotel web-sites.My first bids on 4/14/06:4* Cambridge $60/+Med$70/+SB$80new browser 3* Cambridge $50/+Med$60/+SB$70Second round of bids on 4/16/06:4* Cambridge $80/+Med$90/+SB$100/+Brookline$105new browser 4* Downtown $80/+Brookline$90/+Med$100/+SB$105Won Wyndham Boston $105/night*3 = $330 +$15 insurance + $52.07 taxes & feesTotal $382.07Their current web-rate (prepaid/non-refundable) is $269 and best available is $299, so I think I did OK. I guess that May is not the time of year for getting those $50 deals....?Best of luck to everyone. Thank you for this site! It really helped me understand the Boston area a bit better.
steve16823 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Cambridge isn't usually so bad but occupancy seems to be very high that weekend.
