Priceline Hotel: Bidding Advice, 4 or 5*, Mid week, 1 night

Hello. 1st time using Priceline. I am in need of a Las Vegas hotel room for 1 night, June 13th. I am looking at either 4* or 5*. This is really just to hold me over for 1 night before I join a bigger group for a bachelor party for the rest of the week. Figure I want 4 or 5 start to ensure they have a nice pool, poker room, etc.

So price wise I see hard rock currently at $129 on their site and MGM at $160 on their site. So I was thinking I would try for $80 for a 4 star or $100 for a 5 star based on the hotel rate and past posts I have read. Is that a good starting point? Let me know your thoughts.

Love the site. I found the tipping posts, success stories & the hotel maps very interesting & informative.

Thanks.

Rates at the Venetian for this nite are $339 so you're $100 bid for a 5* won't be enough.

What is your maximum bid for a 4*? Do you need/want to be on-strip or is an off-strip location (such as the Hard Rock) acceptable?

I will be staying at the Mandalay Bay (sold out for the night I am looking) for the rest of the week so ideally South Strip would be the location but I see Priceline does not separate South vs North. A place like Hard Rock is good since even though it is off the strip it is South side. My only worry about the 4*s listed is the Westin. I once stayed at the Maxim way back and did not like the location. But I am a gambler and since it is only one night I am leaning toward trying the 4* and hoping I get Luxor or MGM or NY.
