JailRN
Just started using hotwire and found this site through another board. Booked a flight for Vegas and wanted the MGM Grand even though I could have gotten the Venetian for $79 via priceline. But this deal was even sweeter.........Selected Nov. 9 & 10 on the Vegas Strip and 4.5* - identified as MGM via the amenity symbols. I hoped! :) Initially prices came up at $71 then $72 and $74 then $96 :) I was aware of double the difference and found cheaper rates through the MGM site, Travelocity and Orbitz for 59.95. So I grabbed it.Hotwire cost $96 per night - total 220.05after a refund of double the difference -In the end, our 2 nights at the MGM will cost $78.85 including taxes and fees. And, you can't beat that! :D :o :P :) Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Nicely done!Did you already receive the refund from Hotwire? I haven't heard of anyone having any problems (when they were entitled a refund) but always ask because it's something i like to keep on top to see if Hotwire starts to give people a hard time with it.Certainly a bit of risk in what you did but i guess that's why you're heading to Vegas! :) Wishing you as much luck at the casinos as you had with obtaining this hotel.Have a great trip and thanks for posting! JailRN
Actually, I'm a Priceline pro and I love getting a deal!Couldn't resist the gamble whether this was the 4.5* MGM or not :) I must admit - I panicked when I couldn't find the double the difference link and then found the right email address. Then I knew I was ready to bite the bullett. I used hotwire once before last Jan for Vegas as well (NYNY).So, I filled the form out and waited and waited - when I read someone warning that the rules changed to something in the lines of one request per year (I got a refund for the NYNY for $12 in Jan) - I was really sweating - but the rules read - one refund request every 6 weeks & max. of $1000/yr. So, I have my confirmation of a refund of $144.20 to being credited to my card within 10 business days.... no worriesAnd great site you have developed here - great to see something geared towards hotwire as it has now become my favourite tool for a deal! JailRN
Any old wins - I have MANY and will certainly share them. It will take me a bit to pull them up and get them entered here - but I love to share my deals as much as I like to read others. Link to comment
