bobkat Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 I've been searching for a 4* hotel room in NYC on priceline.com for Sat. 4/22. I went as high as $160 for Central Park, Midtown East & Midtown South. No luck. Now priceline.com won't accept higher bids - says this is a duplicate bid. Maybe I just need to try later... Anyways, any thoughts? Am I too close to the date or should I keep trying. Open to any & all suggestions... Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 Is there a reason you're avoiding the MTW zone? Are you familiar with Priceline Re-Bidding Explained? (and are you using them)What is your maximum bid?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. bobkat Posted April 9, 2006 Author Report Posted April 9, 2006 My maximum bid is $160. My thinking is that, after all of the additional costs, that brings me to around $200. I may be willing to go to $165 or $170 if that makes more sense. I just don't want to get too much beyond $200 w/ total costs, if I can avoid it. I'd like to keep it a 4* hotel because it is a special occasion. I understand the rebidding process and have tried a couple of different bids, gradually broadening the area of my bids - which is how I came up w/ Central Park, Midtown East & Midtown West. I mistyped my posting the first time -- I'm excluding Midtown South because one of the 4* hotels has a picket line and I don't want to cross it (long story...).This is a great forum -- your feedback is really appreciated! I did use Savingsbarn.com, by the way.
thereuare Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 So you have already bid up to your maximum bid and were rejected? If so, not sure what else you can do except continue to try and hope inventory becomes available at that price.Do you have a back-up reservation? bobkat Posted April 10, 2006 Author Report Posted April 10, 2006 No, don't have a backup reservation. Guess I should get something I can cancel if I get a better deal.
