Cobber Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Here is what Hotwire is showing for 3/30 to 4/2.4.5-star hotel in City Centre Amsterdam - This deluxe establishment offers its guests tastefully decorated rooms and many special touches. Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, and Business Centre.Could this be the Sofitel or the Radisson?Amsterdam has been roughing me up. I've been losing Priceline bids at $70, $85, and $87 for 4* and 3* in the same period but I'll cover that in another post. Any other advice is appreciated.
thereuare Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Please follow-up your PRICELINE EDINBURG thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay... we'll then have a look at the above. Cobber Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 Update complete. The only reason I didn't update the post previously was because I never used any discount options and used hotel points instead.
thereuare Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Letting others know that you book thru a non-opaque means helps others to know that they may need to do the same, rather then left wondering if you ultimately had success but forgot to post the win and that maybe they should be keep trying for their own dates. When searching Hotwire for the above dates i dont' see any 4.5* properties offered... are you still seeing the above offering? Cobber Posted March 30, 2006 Author Report Posted March 30, 2006 This option did disappear by the time I got back to Hotwire. However, similar offers came up and after selecting the hotel and clicking all the way through the purchase options I was shocked at the fees charged by Hotwire. Some of these were likely taxes but for two nights and a $170/night room accumulated $80 in additional charges? If this is the way Hotwire operates I am through with them. Priceline.com provides such low discounts where Hotwire

IBIS is owned by the same company that owns Motel 6 (Accor) and some other budget hotels in the states. Hopefully its alright. I did save some cash by using Priceline.com to get an airport hotel instead of hiking into the city in the late evening. That post should be below.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 As per our suport page we are affiliates of the Accor branded hotels and using our links for your purchases helps pay the expenses in keeping this site running and free :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Chris26WI Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Was 67$ your first bid for AMS Airport? Seems a little bit on the high side for the Courtyard. It's a nice hotel, but actually quite far from the airport.
