Hey everyone!

I am making a trip to Vegas from Apr. 19-22, and would like a 4 star hotel (pref. NYNY, Treasure Island, Paris Hotel, Luxor, Mirage or MGM). I entered a bid of $65, $70 and $75 a few days ago but with no luck. I am now able to rebid and would just like some advice.

1) How is it that you guys determine which hotels are likely to bite for such and such days (in this case Apr. 19-22)

2) Prices on Hotwire are no less than $175 for 4-star those dates, so is it unlikely that I will get a winning bid at Priceline for much less than that?

3) Finally, overall, what are my chances of getting one of those hotels mentioned above for those days, and what is my best chance of getting them (i.e. Hotwire or Priceline, and if Priceline, what should be my baseline bid?) Really I don't want to spend more than $120.

Thank you much :)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

1) You can't target a specific hotel in this area. You should feel comfortable/willing to accept any hotel in the zone that has already been reported in the PRICELINE HOTEL LIST (and the possibility of another hotel not yet reported)

2) Doesn't seem likely... unless you are willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID

3) On Hotiwre you can usually target a specific hotel, but it seems that they are currently out of your price range

Let us know if splitting is a possibility or not, as well as if $120 is your maximum bid amount (ie- not including taxes and fees)... we'll then suggest a strategy for whichever way you'd like to go.

I stayed at the Venetian a year ago for $95, so that is why i was looking for a similar price range, although I'm not guessing that will happen this time for those dates. I would give you more info about that Venetian winning bid, but I don't remember the exact dates or details of my bidding.

Anyhow, I just wanted to try another hotel (those listed above). I'm not one to splurge on hotels. I'll gladly splurge on entertainment, but not on a room that I will hardly be in, so that is why my limit is typically $120. Perhaps I will look to a smaller hotel if 4 star is unsuccessful.

Ok, so i've decided that it's going to be pretty near impossible to find a hotel such as the one i want for my price range. If you happen to know/discover a room available for up to $150 (with tax included) please let me know. I'm searching, but so far everything is sold out. Wish I knew what was happening these days :)

Hey Thereuare,

You sure seem to know the ins and outs :) Unfortunately I am taking my mom, and one place she said she didn't want to stay is Bally's...not sure why. I've only been there once and never went to Bally's, so I'm not sure the reasoning, except she said she didn't get a good feeling there.

Anyway, I still have a few weeks. I really want to try and get a place at either Treasure Island, NYNY, Paris, or MGM. If time is almost near and I don't get one of those, I'll definetly consider more that Bally's idea. Thanks so much for looking into that for me. Don't waste your days helping me out, but again if you happen to see a pretty good deal for just those hotels I'm looking into that'd be great.

All of those properties are in our Las Vegas Hotel checker.

Enter your dates and the check the properties you want, then click the "Check Dates" button near the bottom... will autofill each for site for you so you then only have to click the "search" button on each, no need to visit each site independently and input your dates at each one :)

Ok, I'm a bit shocked (not sure happy though) that I finally won my bid today at Priceline.com for $75 The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas for Apr. 19-21. $75 was my first bid, choosing the Las Vegas Strip area. I really wasn't expecting to win on the first bid, so I guess I'm satisfied with that. Although I wanted another hotel (hehe)
