jdstrd Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 I'm going to NYC, prefer soho area. I'm going to scout for my school this year. Any help before bidding on priceline and hotwire would be great. Also bidding with savingsbarn, how does it link up so I do it right? thanx for any help.
thereuare Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Are you sure you want the Soho/Downtown area?Few notes:1) deals are typically much better in midtown2) easier to get around via mass transit (and more taxis) in midtown3) and most important, note that the SoHo zone also includes the downtown/financial district... so there is no way to ensure a hotel in the SoHo area... you could end up as south as Battery ParkIt's your hotel stay and you know your needs for this trip better than we do, so just confirm that is what you really want (and can accept a hotel at the southern tip of manhattan) and we'll suggest a strategy for whatever you want. Also, what is your maximum bid? We wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you wanted to pay. jdstrd Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 No the school,(FCI) is in the soho area. I've never been to New York, so if mid town is better and cheaper. And not far away. Then thats what I will do. Thanx for all the advice.
thereuare Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Also, what is your maximum bid? We wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you wanted to pay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jdstrd Posted March 30, 2006 Author Report Posted March 30, 2006 A 2*, or 3*. Price nothing above 250 a nite. The cheaper the better.
thereuare Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 I would not recommend bidding 2* in NYC... you really want to stick with the higher rated hotels (3* and above should be fine). There is a chance that you could get a 4* within your budget... would you want to try for that or prefer a cheaper 3* property? Also, is $250 your maximum bid amount or your "all-in" amount including taxes and fees? If "all-in" please state your maximum in terms of bid amount so we don't have to calcuate the fees and taxes for each user within each area (you can go thru the beginning steps of Priceline and without inputting a credit card see the total amount, net of fees and taxes, of a bid amount)Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy from there.
