thereuare Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but my guess is that you're going to have to raise your maximum bid for NYC in May. Scott12 Posted March 22, 2006 Author Report Posted March 22, 2006 Is May 17th to the 22nd a busy time in New York City? Would you suggest bidding $120.00 for a 2.5* or is that steep based on previous history in May. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Could you increase your budget another $10-$20/nite?Are you traveling solo or how many in your group? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Scott12 Posted March 22, 2006 Author Report Posted March 22, 2006 Two of us are travelling together staying in one room. Personally, I want central location in a 'good' hotel is there a large difference between a 2* and 2.5* in NYC?Your advice is appreciated.
thereuare Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Bidding on a completely opaque property in NYC at the 2* level is not recommended... we don't see much 2.5* bidding for the similar reasons (you could get a non-chain independent property which is a 'stretch' to be called a 2.5*).If you could raise you bid $10-$20 per nite i think you have a decent chance of getting the Paramount... a 3* property with a great location, but the rooms are notoriously small (see THESE comments to help you make a decision)Let us know which way you'd like to play it (raise yoour bid, lower star rating, wait it out) and we'll advise with a strategy accordingly. Scott12 Posted April 12, 2006 Author Report Posted April 12, 2006 Hi There,That's me ready to bid. I've bided up to $140 for a 3* with nothing the last couple of days. Would you recommend splitting our stay? Or continue bidding process for two more weeks? What bidding strategy would you suggest to obtain a 3*?Thanks for your advice.
