love2cruise Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Hi...we've booked a cruise for Jan 6, 2007 and want to spend 2 nts in Miami before the cruise from 01/04 - 01/06. just wondering if it is too soon to try and book the hotel now, or if we should until the end of the year.We need either 2 or 3 rooms and want to spend up to about $75 for 4 star - downtown and maybe about $100-$125 for Miami Beach -- 4 star
thereuare Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 It's never too early to bid... as long as your plans are firm and you don't overbid. However, you'll first need to confirm your plans and determine the number of rooms you'll need. From there we can suggest a strategy to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
love2cruise Posted June 10, 2006 Author Report Posted June 10, 2006 Hi thereI am looking for 2 hotel rooms for check in date late Jan.4, 2007 and checkout on Jan. 6, 2007. We are staying pre-cruiseIdeally looking for 4* on South Beach (3* and below look unappealing). Am willing to go up to $130 max per nightIf not, will go Downtown, 4* or 3*, (maybe you can give some advice about 3* hotels - they look fine to me from what i've seen & heard) for max about $125 per nightI know this is a peak time but am hoping for some insight to whether my max prices are still too low for what i want.thanks for your help
love2cruise Posted June 10, 2006 Author Report Posted June 10, 2006 Miami Coconut Grove I am looking for 2 rooms for 2 nites in MiamiWhen searching in Hotwire - i found:3.5* $101 / nightamenities: restaurant, pool, fitness, spa, tennis, businessIt is listed as customer favouriteany ideas on which hotel this may be?
thereuare Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.Coconut Grove is not in South Beach nor Downtown... have your prefered areas changed since your post before this one? Are you ready to bid/purchase now? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
love2cruise Posted June 12, 2006 Author Report Posted June 12, 2006 sorry, i know i've been jumping around - we are definitely ready to purchase now - 1st choice South Beach, 2nd choice Downtown Miami // Coconut Grove was just something i came across and will only consider if the other 2 are not reasonably priced. Since we are booking 2 rooms we are pretty set on price so we may have to give up sobe&downtown. pls advise on bidding strategy for south beach & downtown Miami
thereuare Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 Need to clarify one item before suggesting a strategy...Is price or zone more important? (ie- would you prefer a 4* hotel at your maximum bid in South Beach or sooner prefer a 4* hotel in Downtown for less?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
love2cruise Posted June 12, 2006 Author Report Posted June 12, 2006 price is more important than zone - but i will go for max in sobe even if downtown is cheaper. I only want to bid for downtown after i reach my max in sobe
thereuare Posted June 12, 2006 Report Posted June 12, 2006 This is how i would bid...At the 4* level you have four re-bid zones available; 2 at the 3* level.Select 4* South Beach....Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* South Beach and re-bid zone4....Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $130.Any questions feel free to ask.Try the above and if rejected we will then proceed with a strategy for Downtown... but for the Downtown zone only, is price more important than 4* vs. 3*?Good Luck and let us know how it goes. love2cruise Posted June 16, 2006 Author Report Posted June 16, 2006 what a mess!! so now a few people that were undecided are definitely coming along so South Beach is not going to work out for us as we need 2 rooms with 4 people per room. (hotwire does not have anything for sobe and we can't risk priceline giving us double occupancy and getting 3 rooms is not cost effective for us.Due to cost, and many hours of searching hotwire etc... we have decided the best thing for us is to stay in coral gables/coconut grove. we did that the last time we went to miami as well so it's not a big deal.\\Hotwire has a hotel listed as 3.5* for $86/nt -- Customer favorite and Best Valuerestaurantpoolfitnessspatennis nearbybusinessany ideas on what this may be?
thereuare Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 As per the Hotwire Hotel List (read beyond the first post in the thread) this is a match for the The Grand Bay Hotel- Coconut Grove so that would be our best guess.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
