Canada Mike Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 When we arrived in San Francisco on the 11th of March (at the airport) we placed a bid with Priceline (through Savingsbarn.com) for a 4* hotel in Fisherman's Wharf and our first bid was $90. We had been keeping an eye on the Hotwire, Priceline (among other) prices. We had read to begin bidding at least 20% below what Hotwire was offering. Although the prices had risen on the 11th, we had seen prices on Hotwire previously for our 4* hotel in Fisherman's Wharf for $105. Since we did not want to be rejected (we only wanted to stay in a four star in Fisherman's Wharf) and didn't arrive in San Francisco until 4pm that day, we chose to start a little higher than we perhaps needed to. Our bid was accepted on the first try and we were very happy. We were extremely happy with the Sheraton hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful to us (the check-in people, the concierge, the security people, the bellman/woman). We were given a non-smoking room (as per our request at the check-in desk) with two double beds. The room was a good size, although the bathroom was small (big enough for us, though). The beds were so comfortable and they each had four big pillows on them with a smaller Sheraton pillow on top. We were given a room on the main floor which looked out to the bus barn across the street. We were worried that we would hear a lot of noise coming from there, but that was not the case. We occasionally heard a bus starting up, a ship's horn or people laughing as they went by our room, but nothing late at night or early in the morning. We would like to thank you all at this site as we couldn't have received such a good deal without your help. We will be using Priceline again when we go to Boston next month.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding!Glad we were able to help and thank you for starting your bids using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.comI never recommend bidding the day of arrival, for as you found out, it can add a bit of pressure to the bidding and seldom amounts to any additional savings. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
