artiekaye Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 I just found your site and this is my first post. I am going to Las Vegas from May 10 to May 15, 2006. I have not been to Las Vegas in over 15 years, so I am not familiar with the current hotels. I am interested in a good 4-star level hotel on the Strip in the $100-$150 range if possible, but would go up to $180 range for a nicer property. I did a Hotwire search and got these two 4-star listings:4-star North Strip $130 - Amenities: Casino, Pool(s), Spa Services, Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center4-star South Strip $137 - Amenities: Casino, Pool(s), Spa Services, Tennis Nearby, Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Golf Nearby, Business CenterAny ideas on which hotels these are? If so, do these prices seem like a good deal for these hotels in that week?Any help is greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding! The first hotel in the North Strip has not yet been identified. I'm guessing it is an existing hotel on our list but with slightly different amenity icons than has previously been reported. The South strip hotel is a match for the MGM Grand so that would be our best guess. While an 'ok' price i don't really feel it is anything special, but i'm also not a big fan of this property as it is just WAAAY to bid for my taste and not that easy to navigate from one place in the hotel to another. At a similar rating you could book Treasure Island for $133/nite.The 'problem' is that rates really jump on weekend nites, so a Wed-Mon stay is not always an easy unless you are willing to SPLIT YOUR PRICELINE BID. Is that a possibiliity? (and even with splitting you're at a slight disadvantage since your dates are midweek-weekend-midweek(again))If you're not willing to split your bid, or even if you are, your best deal may be at Ballys, which is rated slightly less than the other two hotels above, but has a better mid-strip location. Thru Ballys website they have an average rate of $143/nite for your dates, but easyclcik has a rate of $133/nite. Ballys has a 'best rate guarantee' where they will match the lower price and give you an additional 25% off, bringing your stay down to $100/nite.Let us know your thoughts on the above. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
artiekaye Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 Thanks very much for the info and help.I decided to book Treasure Island at the $133.I realize that the weekend is what made this itinerary higher, but it can't be changed this trip. Next trip I will look to stick with the Sun-Thu time. Thanks for the tip on splitting bids. It was not something I wanted to do on this trip, but I am glad to have another idea for the future. Looking around the site, I also saw info on Priceline re-bidding using different zones. Would have never known about that strategy without coming here.Great site, and I will be back.
