Priceline Hotel: Help with Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada

Hi there

Please help with setting up a winning bid for Great Wolf Lodge. It is listed as a 3.5* in Niagara Falls North according to Priceline. Unfortunately, the price is $500+ per night which is out of our budget. The hotel keeps showing up under different pricebreakers for $280, but the amenities that show up for the price breaker do not match (e.g. they show free breakfast which is not available at GWL).

Looking to book 2 or 3 nights - Sept 1-Sept 4 or Sept 2-4 for 2 adults and one kid (under 10).

Any help with uncovering the pricebreaker would be appreciated.

BTW, the sunset50 coupon only works for USD. Also, the Pricebreaker reveal function on your site doesn't work - PL errors out and asks for recaptcha validation (suspects automated access attempt)

Thanks!

Few question/comments to clarify some of the above:

What is your expected/maximum budget? (in USD)

Since Great Wolf Lodge does not offer Free Breakfast, and the PriceBreaker hotel shows a Free Breakfast amenity, the PriceBreaker hotel is likely some other 3.5 star hotel in the zone and not the Great Wolf Lodge that you are looking for.

Since you're trying to keep costs as low as possible, have you considered Sept 1-3, as that shows to be a little cheaper vs. including the Saturday nite.  Also, i don't know the specific occupancy/children rules at GWL, or how they control access to the water park area, but this is a situation where you need to be careful booking an 'opaque' hotel with PRICELINE as they only guarantee double occupancy.  While the risk of booking double occupancy at a 'standard' hotel and showing up at a hotel with a young child is somewhat low, it increases substantially at a property such as this (which offers a water park).  I have not stayed at any Great Wolf Lodge properties but i have been to Kalahari (similar concept in the Poconos) and, iirc, access to the water park was restricted by wrist bands.  If you book a room for double occupancy what if that only entitles you to two wrist bands to access the water park and they want an additional fee for the 3rd wrist band for your child?  In this situation i think HOTWIRE would be a better option since their service allows you to search for up to quad occupancy, so there shouldn't be any additional occupancy charges if you include 2adults/1child in your search.  This may ultimately be a moot point since the PriceBreaker hotel is not likely the hotel you're looking for.

I am seeing what looks to be GWL on HOTWIRE:
Sept 1-3 for $325 (USD before taxes/fees... and before our Hotwire Coupon)

All terms of all of our Priceline Coupons are set by priceline.  If you still want to use Priceline (even with the occupancy caveats above) you may be able to if you change your location to US and currency to USD.  Do you encounter the same when trying our Hotwire Coupon? (i'm not sure if their terms are also confined to US or not)

There is currently a known PriceBreaker issue where trying to purchase the hotel gives a 'You Just Missed It' message, and this happens both thru our site and on the PRICELINE site, but I haven't see the Captach issue in a very long time, it might help if, as per above, you change your location to US and currency to USD.

OK, a fair amount for you to digest... let us know your thoughts / questions and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Thank you. I gave up on trying to find a deal for this weekend. We'll just drive up for the day and do other stuff around the falls 🙂 The PB deals seem like a scam because even though they throw in GFL as a potential option, the amenities are so generic that I can't be certain I will get it. Also, the other options in the bundle seem to be all over the place (on the US side or other cities near niagara falls) - so its tough to know for sure.

Hopefully the bidding system will come back one day and we can go back to our old bid sheets!

The exact opposite... you can pretty much exclude GWL as a potential option since this property does not offer Free Breakfast while the PriceBreaker hotel shows Free Breakfast as an amenity.  As long as the hotel is 1 of the 3 shown PRICELINE is providing what they promised (remember, it's not 'you pick one of these three' it is 'we will pick one of these three').

In case this helps make it clearer, and for anyone else following along:

When PRICELINE shows 3 potential hotels for a PriceBreaker offer, priceline already knows which hotel it is going to be, the other 2 hotels are only added in order to create the 'opacity' of which hotel you will ultimately receive.  This 'opacity' is what enables them to offer the given hotel at a price less than almost anywhere else.

So we ended up booking the Hilton through PRICELINE for the one night on Friday. We got one of the corner rooms. I checked the hilton app when picking the room at check in and it said "away from ice, vending machines and elevators". It was definitely away from the first 2. As for the elevators, PL must have a special way of measuring distance from elevators - as per MY calculations, we were right up against the shaft! 🙂

BTW, for anyone else reading this, the parking at Hilton is $75 for self park and $100 for valet. The casino across the street (used to be free for casino members) was charging $50 per night for parking.

I will be calling Hilton and PL to tell them about the experience and the crappy room we got - definitely not a 4* worthy experience.

Cheers

Not sure how you were able to link your PRICELINE purchase in order to check-in and choose a room via the Hilton App, but regardless, the preferences you set via Hilton are always only a request... did you ask to switch rooms or if something further from the elevator was available? (maybe nothing else was available that met all 3 of your criteria, so the check-in agent figured this had '2 out of 3' and best suited your needs/requests.

The parking sounds crazy... that is more than we typically see in NYC, Chicago, etc.

Hope the family enjoyed the trip and all that the Niagara Falls area has to offer.

I booked through PL and then called Hilton so they could add it to my hilton account. After that, I was able to use the hilton app to choose a room. The app shows a floor map and lets you pick from a few available options. I could only see corner rooms - I am assuming this is a PL/Hotwire special. When you click on each room, the app gives you the details for each room. This is where it mentioned the room features such as "away from elevator", "away from vending/ice" etc.

Falls is a fun getaway but getting to the point where its more expensive than NY and other prime locations 🙂

Cheers
