Vader7 Posted February 7, 2020 Author Report Posted February 7, 2020 Now today it shows $417 but $897 is normally what hotel would be. That’s an average of Hotels in the area?
thereuare Posted February 7, 2020 Report Posted February 7, 2020 The 'retail' price shown is not necessarily the rate of this specific hotel but for an average of hotel(s) of this star rating in the zone for your dates... it could be all the 4 star hotels in the area, it could be a handful of them, it could just the hotel offered, or it could be just one hotel that is not the one being offered. Search using BiddingHelper.com and in the EASY VIEW tab filter the results to just 4 star hotels and the Walt Disney World - Bonnet Creek zone. Hover your mouse over the 'SEE MATCH from HOTEL LIST' button and you'll see the following 4 star hotels in the area and prices for your dates: Disney Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidania Village - $902/nite Disney Polynesian Resort - $941/nite ==> these two hotels could be the only two hotels used for the average (which would make the average rates in the $900's) or it could include any number of other properties. Regardless, i would not put much faith or pay much attention to this crossed out rate since, as per the above, you can see it's not very meaningful As per this Disney summer thread from yesterday, this offer: 4* HOTWIRE Walt Disney World - Bonnet Creek for $411 Free internet Airport shuttle Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Golf nearby Children's activities ==> matches Disney's Animal Kingdom Based upon yesterday's post (linked above) i have more confidence that this is likely Animal Kingdom Lodge Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Vader7 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Report Posted February 8, 2020 There’s not a chance it’s not a Disney hotel or dolphin or the swan? thanks
thereuare Posted February 8, 2020 Report Posted February 8, 2020 There is always a chance it's something other than what we think, but with nearly 20 years of experience in helping users with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, i'd be very surprised if it was something different based upon the other user's purchase the other day of the Animal Kingdom. Vader7 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Report Posted February 8, 2020 Do you know why Hotwire has a higher charge when putting children in? aren’t children supposed to be free especially under 6?
thereuare Posted February 8, 2020 Report Posted February 8, 2020 Children are not necessarily free... it's usually up to each hotel to set their own policy, but even if a hotel has a 'kids free' policy you could see the rate go up if booking for more than double occupancy as it may put you into a different room type. For a general example, suppose a hotel that has no pullout couches where: 1 King Bed = $200/nite 2 Queen Beds = $225/nite ==> searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/0children the $200 room is in play since it can accommodate the number of your guests you're searching for... but add 2 children and that room type is no longer an option since it won't accommodate 4 guests, and therefore the rate would increase since now the 2 Queen room is the least expensive option based upon your search parameters Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Vader7 Posted February 9, 2020 Author Report Posted February 9, 2020 I'm also thinking about splitting up my vacation on 2 resorts. 2/29-3/3 4* Bonnet Creek -$375 Walt Disney World - Bonnet Creek Amenities Include: Free internet, Airport shuttle, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby and more. Sounds like maybe Beach Club
thereuare Posted February 9, 2020 Report Posted February 9, 2020 Please be sure to let us know how many adults/children you're including in your search as this makes it easier for us to find the same hotel by price as well as ensures that we are researching the same property. 4* HOTWIRE Walt Disney World - Bonnet Creek for $370 Free internet Airport shuttle Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Golf nearby Tennis nearby ==> this does match previous reports for the Beach Club, but you can't necessarily exclude the (not yet reported to the board) Yacht Club as a possibility I did look further into the double/quad occupancy above... HOTWIRE used to define 'children' as age 2-17... they have recently changed this on the 'Hot Rate Hotel' side to indicate ages 2-11. When searching for a regular rate hotel you can still input the number of children and their ages. On the Hot Rate Hotel (opaque) side of things you can now only select the number of children, not their ages. ==> i'm not sure if Hotwire (opaque) is treating any children as adults because that is the way it is coded for all hotels OR if any children would still be counted as children for hotels where they treat any guest 17 years or younger as a child More specifically to your dilemma... Your in a 'grey area'. I know in the past users were able to book Disney properties for double occupancy and then call the hotel to add the children name(s) to the reservation. The other issue (how big/small this is depends upon your outlook at the age of your children) is what if the room only has a King bed... although this may be less of an issue in Orlando since the hotels here are used to accommodating families and therefore have a higher percentage of rooms with 2 beds in them and/or enough space for a rollaway assuming there is no pullout sofabed (vs. if you were staying in NYC or Chicago where hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed and little/no room for a rollaway). Given the price difference i would be more inclined to only include the 2adults in my search and then call the hotel to add the child(ren), as well as sign-up for FastPass and any other perks. If there is an issue adding the children then i would offer to pay to add them to the reservation (since you would have paid Hotwire anyway). Since you are also considering splitting this stay into two reservations, you could make a first reservation for just one nite (or the first few nites), see how it goes after you call the hotel to add the chidlren, and then use that as a baseline to decide if you book with the remaining nites as just 2adults or if you include the children on the original reservation. NOTE if you do go the split reservation route (and are hoping to get the same hotel for all nites) before any purchases you should first check for each set of dates you intend on booking to make sure the same hotel appears for both searches.
