Welcome back!

This one is super easy, imo, as i would jump on this one:

5* The Strip - Northeast (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $87/nite with:
Free Parking
Pets Allowed
Fitness Center
Airport Shuttle
Casino
Restaurant
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
==> The Palazzo Resort is our best guess here

Excellent rate for this property and in the Caesars area that you want to be (Caesars is a HUGE property so the Palazzo/Venetian area very close to the northern end of Caesars, it's a moderate walk to the southern end of their property)

Does this work for your plans?

Back Again! Thanks thereuare! Sorry..got sidetracked for a bit...some minor surgery. All good now!

Ok so i actually booked airline tickets. Hotel dates would be check-in Tue. Feb 4- checkout Fri. Feb 7 (3 nights)

So I NEED a hotel! :)

The Palazzo above sounds nice. Wonder if its still available?

A quick check by me this morning may have missed it? But it appears Treasure Island might be available @$78 (plus).

Not 100% sold on TI though...wonder if better hotel/better deal might come along, before I jump on this one?

any comments? Thanks! what other info. do you need from me?

(i was typing my reply as you made your last post)...

Unfortunately the Palazzo deal is no longer offered (as well as it being for different dates than what you're currently searching).

What i'm currently seeing:

The Linq - $42/nite (hotel recently renovated and become a 'cool' spot, but still not at the level of the 'upper tier' properties... but at this price it becomes a question of value vs. paying up for something a little nicer)

Treasure Island - $74/nite (personally i have never stayed at the Linq, but i have walked thru it many times, given the cost different i would probably try the Linq vs. TI, but again, i've never stayed at The Linq so can't speak definitively about it, but for the price difference i would go with the less expensive Linq)

Cromwell - $101/nite (this is a small property that was a make-over from Wild Bill's Gaming Saloon... the casino is still a bit old, dark, and smokey, but apparently the makeover has brought this property to the 4.5 star level; they did try to classify this as a 5 star hotel right after the renovations but it wasn't quite up to that level.  The 'overall' property is not up to the 4.5* level of other Vegas properties, but some people like it)

Mirage - $118/nite

Caesars - $138/nite

Venetian - $164/nite

I think the above covers your best bet at each price point... if you're on a tight budget i'd consider the Linq and spend the savings on something 'extra nice' while you're in Vegas (a dinner you wouldn't necessarily splurge on otherwise, take a limo ride if that is your thing, a $100 bet on black (or red as the case may be), etc, etc).  Cromwell i don't 'get' as it's not one of the mega-resorts that are typical of the higher-end hotels, but i do know they are trying to develop a name for themselves and there is often a long line to get into their nightclub on one of the upper floors... at the mid-price i would give this a try or Mirage which is getting a little long in the tooth but 'classic' Vegas... at the higher end if budget is not as much of an issue i think Venetian standard rooms are worth the extra $25 more than the standard Caesar rooms.

Your thoughts?

Yes, i saw Bally's too at $92/nite, but at this price the hotel is sort of in "no man's land"... for the extra $10 i would sooner stay at The Cromwell or i would go cheaper and 'drop' to the Linq at half the price.

I have stayed at Ballys before, and the renovated rooms are nice, but at this price i don't think it's a very good value given the other options... i would either save the money and go for the Linq or spend just a bit more and try the Cromwell.

The Cosmopolitan does come up on PRICELINE / HOTWIRE but the current regular price at this property for for your dates is $407/nite so the chances of you seeing this hotel at a 'great deal' is fairly low... and if you were looking to spend around $150+ i'd sooner suggest the Venetian.

EDIT TO ADD: i do see...

5* The Strip - Central West (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $315/nite with:
Pets Allowed
Fitness Center
Business Center
Casino
Restaurant
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
==> the Cosmopolitan is my best guess here, but as per above, for about half the price i would sooner go with the Venetian

Both are on hotwire:

4.5* HOTWIRE Center Strip - High Roller Promenade for $101
Free internet
Pet friendly
Boutique hotel
Casino
Smoke-free rooms
Fitness center
Pool(s)
Restaurant(s)
==> The Cromwell

HOWEVER, the Venetian just went down in price:

5* HOTWIRE Center Strip - Grand Canal Shoppes for $121
Free parking
Free internet
Suite
Resort
Casino
Fitness center
Pool(s)
Restaurant(s)
Business center
==> Venetian

You can view/identify each by:

1) search using our BiddingHelper.com tool

2) go to the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab

3) hover your mouse (or click) the 'FIND MATCH from HOTEL LIST' button)

Assuming it's within your budget, for the extra $20/nite i would go with the Venetian as it is truly a 5 star hotel and their standard rooms are oversized and top-notch.

At a $50+ per nite price difference it becomes something to think about, but at only $20/nite difference it's an easy decision, imo... i would take the Venetian.

When i saw the price drop from when i had looked just a few hours earlier i was thinking to myself, 'you got lucky before you even got to Vegas!'

"When i saw the price drop from when i had looked just a few hours earlier i was thinking to myself, 'you got lucky before you even got to Vegas!"

lol...I hope you're right!

Well, with your coaching, and with comments from the folks on TA, I just pulled the trigger on that $121 deal at the Venetian! Thanks!

I was close to going with Cromwell, or Ballys based solely on LOCATION.

Hope Venetian doesn't disappoint in that regard, but I wont know til I try it.

All-in total incl.taxes, fees, resort fees= $593. (even remembered to put in your $10 off Hotwire Coupon!)

Just 'for fun' I ran the dates thru booking.com ($1052) and the hotel website($1033).....so, looks good, no?

Only little snag I see is that after I booked, the fine print says hotel will choose the room...which I dont think was pointed out on the offer...

any comment on that?

Anyway, we're booked! thanks thereuare and betterbidding!

Ok, having just booked....it brings me to a couple questions I'll post here too.

When the hotwire 'hidden hotel' offers appear on your site, is there any rhyme or reason how long they might stay available? any pattern? or is it completely random?

Could they appear, then be gone again in an hour? do they hang around for days? weeks? until "x" number of bookings are made? any feel for that??

Also, as mentioned, my booking says the hotel will choose room..'run of the house' I guess. I'm worried that when the hotel sees I paid $121/night thru hotwire, and someone else paid $264 thru their own, or other website- who's going to get a better room! Should I worry about that, or can I do anything about it? Or is it a case of 'ya pays yer money & ya takes yer chances'?

Any advice? thanks.

Congratulations on your success!

I'm glad to you took advantage of this offer as it was really a lay-up vs. the others... this is by far the best value, imo.

I'm about to head out but will add another reply in about 1-2 hours when i return answering your more specific questions above regarding room assignment, inventory, etc (but the short answer is "don't worry about it" as i think you'll be fine at this property since they are a 'true' 5 star property, imo)

what kinda website are you running here!

The BEST kind

I'll try to address the questions above:
INVENTORY: hotels will make 'x' number of rooms available via PRICELINE / HOTWIRE based upon their expected occupancy levels (if the hotel will be fairly empty they will offer more rooms... if the hotel is expected to be full they may offer less or none at all).  Typically when a hotel does make inventory available they do it in tiers... 5 rooms at $100, 7 rooms at $125, 3 rooms at $150.  This way once all 5 of their rooms at $100 sell-out they still have a presence on the PRICELINE / HOTWIRE website.  However, it's a very fluid situation, as hotels are constantly adjusting inventory based upon various factors (what are competitor hotels doing, where are prices at their competitors (both 'regular retail' prices as well as 'opaque' prices), is the hotel ahead/behind their inventory projection for a given date, etc, etc).  For example, if they expect low occupancy and offer a bunch of rooms to the opaque suppliers at a low prices.  However, at some point they realize they are about to get a contract for a wedding with lots of out of town guests, or they book a conference with overnite guests, or they just seem 'ahead' of where they should be in terms of expected occupancy... they could instantly pull all of the discounted inventory (or pull the lowest price inventory) given they are now in a better position to meet their occupancy goal for the given nite(s).  So in short, there really is now telling how long a given hotel offer will continue to be shown... it could remain their until your check-in date or it could be gone the very next time you search.

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS: almost all rooms at the Venetian are awesome, imo (standard rooms start at 650+ sq. ft), but naturally some rooms are better than others in terms of view, proximity to the elevator (some like closer some like further away), etc.  At any hotel you should expect the same level of service and quality as any other guest... if you ever have an issue at any hotel (especially a tangible issue, like something is dirty or banged up as opposed to 'the room feels tired') take a pic of it with your phone, head down to the front desk, and show it to the staff there and ask to be re-assigned.  If you don't have any success with the front desk clerk ask for a manager and continue to move up the chain of command.  Hotels are in the hospitality business and generally want to make you happy regardless of the rate you paid.  Now, with this noted, there are some hotels (fortunately the numbers have been shrinking as PRICELINE / HOTWIRE have become more commonplace) that assign their least favorable rooms to the lowest priced guests, but when this does happen (again, it's been happening less and less) it's generally at older hotels in pre-war buildings that are not as uniformly built (take for example a older hotel in NYC which may have rooms that are very different from one another)... the majority of rooms at the Venetian are uniform/standard.  They have two different towers, i forget the name of each (it might be Venetian Tower and Venezia Tower), but i prefer the one that is not in the same tower as Bouchon restaurant (which from a web search appears i prefer the Venetian Tower).  Some people prefer the Venezia as it has it's own small pool area (other Venetian guests can still use), is closer to the front desk, and you don't need to walk thru the casino to get to your room... i prefer the Venetian Tower just from the standpoint that it is more centrally located in the middle of the hotel (rooms in each are nearly identical).  So with all of the above noted, as you necessarily going to get that unobstructed view of the strip from a high floor... not likely, since those rooms cost more and are considered to be an upgrade from 'standard'... but your room should be nice, clean, and more than sufficient for your needs (i mean, when was the last time you were in a hotel room with remote controlled drapes??)

With all of the above noted, if a specific room type is desired, you can sometimes get it just by asking or sometimes the hotel may say such a room (like a Strip View) is available for an additional fee of $xx (usually the difference in price between the regular rate for a standard room you're booked in vs. the regular rate for the room type you're asking for).  Likewise, this is Vegas, and you can always try the '$20 trick' which is, folding a $20 bill between your ID and credit card and then when checking-in and the hotel asks for your ID and credit card, you hand it over with the $20 in between and ask 'if there are any complimentary upgrades' (and you can add something like 'a high floor with a view of the strip' or whatever else it is that is important to you).  The front desk as likely seen it before and know exactly what's up, typically if they can't get you an upgrade they will give you back the $20, but on rare occasions you may not get an upgrade and lose the $20 (or as they say 'you just lost your first bet in Vegas').  If you do try this, you should have a good sense of what it is that you're after by researching the different room types and the cost difference between them, as well as how busy the hotel is on your travel dates (if the hotel is nearly sold-out there may not be anything the front desk clerk can do no matter how much they would like the tip).  It's also a good idea to try to find some rapport with the desk agent, be friendly, smile, call them by name and/or comment about where they are from (in Vegas most hotel staff have their home town on their name tags), etc, etc... but being kind and courteous is a good rule for life, not just when dealing with hotel staff.

OK, probably more than you wanted to read, but i wanted to provide some 'general' answers as well as specific to your Las Vegas location.

If anything above needs clarification, i left something out, or other questions come up don't hesitate to ask.
