Momba
Eager to try this brand. Booked through Better Bidding link of course, and used BB coupon code for extra 8% off! I would never have had the guts to risk Hotwire in the first place without your insight into likely hotels. Since that first hesitant but successful win several years ago, you wonderful folks have saved me hundreds of dollars, I can't thank you enough! Noticed that the "this hotel is guaranteed to be one of these 3" info changed between preview screen and detail screen, something to be aware of. The hotel room shot pic, though, was obviously Virgin so no surprise there. Any suggestions for casual dinner in Mag Mile shopping area? My 15 yo appreciates a little cool factor, but we aren't dressy (or rich :)). Just hicks from a nearby state that exports cheese and wacky politics, visiting Chicago for an end-of-summer blowout. We'll see Hamilton, and probably Teatro Zinzanni. Maybe John Hancock or Willis, boat tour on river. Suggestions welcome! Thanks again -- Amenities Free internet Business center Fitness center Golf nearby Pet friendly Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding and congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're pleased with the results and looking forward to your trip... we're happy to hear that the information here has been helpful with your purchases. 1 hour ago, Momba said: Noticed that the "this hotel is guaranteed to be one of these 3" info If you want to make this even easier we have a new tool we just released, RevealHotels.com that will (pardon the pun) reveal the hotel with just a click. 1 hour ago, Momba said: Any suggestions for casual dinner in Mag Mile shopping area? It sounds like Lou Malnati's would fit the bill quite well. There are a few locations throughout the city, but last time we visited we went to the Gold Coast location at 1120 N State St that has a super-cool vibe (think converted warehouse feel). I wasn't as impressed with Au Cheval (800 W Randolph St) but then again, 1) i'm not a huge fan of burgers (i'm more of a pizza guy, which i guess reinforces my recommendation above) and, 2) i 'had enough' after the 2+ hour wait... but it's a 'dive bar' that some claim to be one of the best burgers in the country. I would probably give it another try at an 'off hour' when the wait would likely not be so bad, and it wouldn't be my first choice, but it may be something your 15 year old might like so i'll let you do the research and decide for yourself. Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the board's HOTWIRE link for your purchase. Have a great trip. AaronJB
Wildberry (https://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-pancakes-and-cafe-chicago-2) is a short walk away from your hotel, although it is a popular breakfast option so there may be some wait. Fancier is Beatrix (https://www.beatrixrestaurants.com/beatrix/river-north/menu/breakfast/) in River North, which also has lunch/dinner and a coffee/pastry bar (https://www.beatrixrestaurants.com/beatrix/river-north/menu/coffee-pastry-bar/). Siena Tavern (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g35805-d3879063-Reviews-Siena_Tavern-Chicago_Illinois.html) would be another dinner option, as would be Sable (https://www.yelp.com/biz/sable-kitchen-and-bar-chicago-3) and Ema (https://www.emachicago.com/menu/dinner/.) Eataly is also a lot of fun. I'm very familiar with Chicago and happy to answer any questions. Link to comment
