phoebe
anyone feel Priceline's NYOP is becoming less popular with the hotel chains? I bid through this site's link to PRICELINE up to $63 for Downtown and Airport with no success so chose this Express Deal and combined it with a coupon code for 5% off Express Deals emailed me from Priceline to bring the cost down to--$63! thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Hope this property will work well for your plans this trip. Keep in mind that hotels don't set the Express Deal price, they set the lowest price they are willing to accept for an 'opaque' purchase... from there priceline sets the Express Deal price as well as the lowest acceptable bid price. So it's not that hotels are losing interest in the NYOP service, i think it's more so that there just isn't that much of a difference between the lowest possible acceptable bid and the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal price (and the difference becomes even less when there is a Priceline Coupon that can be used). Also, Priceline has been focusing more of their efforts on the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal side of things, even going as far to making the Name Your Own Price side of their service more difficult to find (we have created the BiddingForHotelRooms.com to make the NYOP form quickly and easily accessible). Bottomline is that there are still great deals to be had, as it evidenced by your deal above given that it's more than a 50% discount vs. a regular rate purchase at this hotel for this nite... but the difference between the lowest acceptable bid amount and the PRICELINE EXPRESS price is shrinking. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay.
