lnewcom Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I needed six nights from 3-1 to 3-6-06 to attend a convention at the Washington Hilton, in the DuPont Circle area. I began bidding at $78. Went up to $100 with no takers. From tips on this site I went back and split my stay to 3 + 3. I got the Washington Hilton for $84 for 3 nights. Excellent room in every respect. On bidding my second three nights I had to go up to $101 and got the Westin Embassy Row. This hotel was obviously smaller, older and shwed some of it's age. The room had worn older carpeting, dated out-of-style wall covering and draperies, some minor peeling paint and wallpaper. Bathroom and bed were excellent and newer. TV offered many fewer channels. Was still a good room with an excellent bed and I was happy with it.

TravelGuy Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Glad everything worked out.Could you check your winning bid to confirm that the Washington Hilton was rated a 4*. If so it's been recently upgraded from a 3*. Thanks.
