SomeGirl
Received this email today - never had this happen before. Should I kick up a stink? We are writing to you today regarding your hotel reservation at the Hampton Inn Melbourne for Trip Number ###########. We have received a notification that the hotel had a system issue which caused an incorrect room rate to be loaded into our system. As a result, your reservation is not confirmed and cannot be accommodated. Because of this, we have canceled your reservation and processed a full refund of 54.66 USD. This refund will be processed through our system within 24 hours; however, posting time is dependent on your bank. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your understanding. thereuare
Sorry to hear this happened... If you really want to stay there i would write Hotwire asking what the correct rate should have been since the regular rate is currently only $111 for this nite... a Hotwire rate of $44 is certainly not out of the realm of possibilities; it's not as if the hotel was regularly priced at $300+ and the HOTWIRE rate was an obvious error. You can try to get HOTWIRE to put pressure on the hotel and have them honor the reservation, and if unsuccessful i would at least ask for HotDollars ($25 would seem fair to me based upon the room cost) for the inconvenience and trouble that you now have to go thru in order to re-book. (or if the price difference above between the correct Hotwire price and the price you paid is negligible ($20-$30), maybe you can agree to pay the difference and have Hotwire give you HotDollars to use on a future purchase for the same amount). As always when trying to resolve a customer service issue, don't scream or yell, be reasonable, and show a willingness to be a little flexible too in order to find a solution that everyone can live with. Let us know if you're able to make any headway, and if you need help with a replacement, please start a NEW TOPIC. GOOD LUCK!!!
