Hotwire Hotel: Help NYC trip 7/22-7/27

I’ve stumbled upon an opportunity to stay in NYC for 5 days this month. We will be coming in from Boston via train or bus. I will not have a car. We have no huge plans. My daughter wants to ride the ferry out to Staten Island to drive by the statue, the Bronx zoo, and the rest of the time we will be in the theater district. I’m pretty open to staying wherever as long as it is safe. I would ideally like to be between 100-150 (I’m sure laughable) but I will do what is needed. Would staying outside of the city and doing public transportation be a rookie mistake? It feels like we should suck it up and stay in Manhattan/ Times Square.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

To confirm, you only need double occupancy for this stay (ie- you and your daughter)?

If so, below are some options along with my best guess for each (if you need more than double occupancy let us know and we will have to do further research)...

3.5* HOTWIRE Long Island City for $119.00
Complimentary Breakfast
Free Internet
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Laundry
Hi-Speed Internet
==> LIC Hotel which is outside of Manhattan but an easy commute with the subway station that is about a 6-7 block walk from this hotel.  I'm not a big fan of Long Island City, it's sort of at a crossroads of still being commercial and fully gone thru the re-gentrification process... a lot of new hotels have opened up in this area, as well as businesses to support the local (and growing) community, but there it is still quite a bit commericial, imo (complete with graffiti on the sides of buildings which reminders me of decades long ago when it was much more prevalent)... on the other hand the price is right

3* HOTWIRE Long Island City for $121.00
Free Internet
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Golf
Blind Accessible
Deaf Accessible
Travel Accessible
Room Accessible
Bathroom Accessible
Handicapped Parking
Roll-in Shower
==> Holiday Inn - Long Island City - Manhattan View (similar comments as per above... this one is about 2-3 blocks from the subway)

Directly in Manhattan is:

4* HOTWIRE Times Square for $147.00
Free Internet
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Blind Accessible
Travel Accessible
Room Accessible
Wheelchair Accessible
Bathroom Accessible
Handicapped Parking
Roll-in Shower
==> Yotel New York which would be an excellent location for your needs and a good 'launching pad' to get to other parts of the city, however, note that there is also a $34/nite resort fee (becoming more and more common in NYC) which stretches your budget a bit

3* Long Island City (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $104/nite with:
Free Breakfast
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
Free Internet
==> Queens County Inn and Suites Long Island City (similar to my other Long Island City comments above)

Any of the above work for your needs this trip?
