actraveler Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Used Savings Barn link.On first try I bid $29.00 for a 2* hotel at the airport. I was offered a free rebid for $7 more, and because we were talking about such a small difference, I just did the rebid.Accepted for $36.00 at the Orlando Airport Quality Inn ($49 with taxes and fees)Here's the question--When I selected the 2* hotel, and my bid was not accepted, it automatically darkened out the 2.5* and 3* boxes so I could not rebid for the better hotels without adding a zone or changing my dates. Why do they do that???I am p----d off because I wanted the AmeriSuites like Ihad for the last 2 nights.Just curious. Thanks again Better Bidding!!
thereuare Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 The star rating you select is the minimum that you are willing to accept, so when you bid for 2.5*, Priceline is also checking all the properties rated higher than that (in an attempt to upgrade you)... therefore priceline considers that you have already bid these star ratings as well.Hopefully the above explains it, but if you have further questions feel free to ask.Enjoy your stay and thank you for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com to begin your purchase. LoneStar Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 I'd also note that it's usually better to start bidding at least at the 2 1/2 or 3 star level since that's where priceline generally offers the best value. At the Orlando Airport, in particular, you might have gotten a strong 3 star for about the same cost of this 2 star (as long as there was availability).
LoneStar Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 A DUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not too surprising. My general rule of travel is never stay at a 2-star property unless a better one is unavailable or ridiculously over-priced. The lower categories are just too risky.
