Canadiansteve Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 Hello, I'm looking for NYC experts to help find the best value for a 3 night stay May 3-6, 2018 in 4.5* + An active couple from Toronto, first time in NYC and open to any suggested areas downtown Have been looking on Hotwire, and cannot find which area would give the best value Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 Welcome to BetterBidding! I don't think it's necessarily which zone provides the best value, more so which hotel/offer provides the best value. My recommendation would be this one: 4.5* Madison Square Garden - Convention Area (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $239/nite with: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess for this one would be the Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan which is a fairly new hotel, centrally located, and gets excellent reviews (one of the top 10 reviewed hotels in NYC with a 5.0/5.0 TA rating) Does this work for your needs? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Canadiansteve Posted March 25, 2018 Author Report Posted March 25, 2018 Looks like a good option. I will look into it, thanks! Any idea what this one would be? <dead link removed> 4.5-star Hotel in Midtown East area Amenities Business center Children's activities Fitness center Internet access Pet friendly Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired
thereuare Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 Please don't link to HOTWIRE hotel results as they usually can't be viewed anywhere other than the computer on which they were originally searched from, and even then they will expire in 30 minutes, and this results in broken links. I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (always use this method for your searches/purchases to ensure you're seeing the complete amenity set and for an easy comparison of PRICELINE vs. HOTWIRE, as well as to use our new IS THIS A GOOD PRICE feature). If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 4.5 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates: 4.5* HOTWIRE Midtown East for $225.00 Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Childrens Activities Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ==> if this is what you're seeing, from the Hotwire Hotel List this matches previous reports for the Intercontinental New York Barclay. Certainly a fine hotel, especially since their renovations which were completed a few years ago. If you think the InterContinental would work better for your plans or is more your style i would have no issues with you staying there... but i think any time you get the opportunity to stay at a 5.0 reviewed hotel you take advantage of doing so (as well, this Crowne Plaza is a bit more to my tastes... newer, modern, and I like the location better than that of the InterContinental) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Canadiansteve Posted March 25, 2018 Author Report Posted March 25, 2018 I booked the one you recommended and it was indeed the Crowne Plaza Thanks!!!!
thereuare Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you received this top rated NYC hotel and thank you for sharing your win with the board... we hope you're looking forward to your trip. A short walk from your hotel i also recommend this place for breakfast one morning: Best Bagel and Coffee 225 W 35th St (north side of the street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues) ==> if you can't get a seat at one of the few tables they have i'd suggest taking your breakfast towards Broadway and see if you can get an outdoor table in front of Macy's... is you come up empty in front of Macy's, continue walking north towards Times Square and eat on the bleachers behind the TKTS Booth while you watch the world go by and you dine with a view you can't get anywhere else in the world! Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay.
