lheviathan
Details: Priceline Express - 5 stars - LV Strip (Northeast) - May 3 to May 4 2018 Hi! I was wondering if anyone could point out why the mandatory fee for this hotel is so high - $51.02? I am aware that it's the resort fee collected by the hotel, but am not aware of any hotels that have resort fees that high. I think the other 5 star hotels go for $40 max. I did some reading already, but can't find a good explanation. Oddly enough, I did a NYOP bid on this area for $95 (Hoping to get whatever this hotel is!), and did not get anything, so I was pretty surprised about that. Thank you in advance! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You didn't mention the room rate per nite or the amenities associated with this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer but i assume it's either of these: 5* The Strip - Northeast (<-- CLICK HERE and confirm your dates on the landing page) for $93/nite with: Business Center Restaurant Airport Shuttle Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> beset guess for this one would be The Palazzo 5* The Strip - Northeast (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $93/nite with: Fitness Center Airport Shuttle Business Center Casino Casino Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Indoor or Outdoor Pool ==> The Venetian is my best guess here Sometimes the resort fee shown by PRICELINE includes taxes/fees and sometimes it does not, and usually is a good approximation of what will actually be charged by the hotel. If PRICELINE happens to show a higher figure than what the hotel actually charges, you will only pay the actual resort fee that is charged by the hotel (just as every other guests regardless of how the hotel was booked). The resort fee at Venetian/Palazzo is now $45/day + 13.38% = $51/day) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. PS- with both of the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers above at $93/nite why did you bid as high as $95?? lheviathan
Thank you for your reply! That makes sense. I did not realize resort fees were taxed as well. I apologize for not putting the price in, that was my mistake. I thought I did! I have actually been attempting bids since last night. I started at 75 and went up to 90, but I didn't get anything for that area! I honestly thought they would take one of my many bids since it was close to their Express price of $93, but there were no takers.I tried again this morning, with bids of $80, $85, $91, and $95 (I was curious to see what would happen), but I still did not manage to get a 5-star hotel. At a total price of ~167 (Base + Taxes + Resort fees), would you say that Venetian/Palazzo is worth the price? Thank you so much! Link to comment
thereuare
Both the Venetian and the Palazzo are among my favorite properties in Vegas as the oversized rooms really make it a treat to return at the end of the day to relax as you do feel like the 'living room' area is entirely separate from the rest of the room. I usually book whichever is cheaper, but if the prices are the same or only a few dollars difference, i go with the Palazzo as it's newer, a little less crowded, and easier to get in/out of.
