JammedUp Posted March 5, 2018 Report Posted March 5, 2018 Hello all, Fresh off a great hotel win in Baltimore, I'm looking to book a hotel in Pittsburgh for a couple nights this summer July 6-8. I'm sure this weekend will be popular with the holiday the week prior, but was wondering when I should start looking for real deals on HOTWIRE. Right now, not much inspiring choices to be found. Thanks for all your help. Looking forward to another good find.
AaronJB Posted March 6, 2018 Report Posted March 6, 2018 So glad you're pleased with the Baltimore win and looking forward to your stay! It's best to get researching right away when your plans are confirmed. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay and which zones would be acceptable? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
JammedUp Posted March 7, 2018 Author Report Posted March 7, 2018 Thank you! I'd ideally like to stay downtown, on the South side, in Bethel Park or near the stadiums. Honestly have no real knowledge of the area so open for anything not too far from downtown. Would like to spend 85-115 per night. Ideally
thereuare Posted March 7, 2018 Report Posted March 7, 2018 Downtown and Southside are the closest to 'downtown' in that they are an easy walk... i think the other two areas are more of a drive (admittedly it's been awhile since i was in Pittsburgh, but that's how i remember it). From the looks of rates it appears that there is some event happening at the stadiums over this weekend so the further you get away from there the likely cheaper you will find things. How about: 3* Downtown Pittsburgh (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $115/nite with: Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess fro this one would be the Cambria Hotel and Suites Pittsburgh At Consol Energy Center which is sort of on the 'outskirts' of downtown, but gets very good reviews Would this hotel and location work for your needs? JammedUp Posted March 7, 2018 Author Report Posted March 7, 2018 Thank you! This would work very well. Is this likely to be the best price I will find? I'm sure there will be a promotion between now and then, correct?

There is one now... do you not see the BIG MESSAGE at the top of the page or in my signature below?? Even if there was not a promotion, i wouldn't wait given how much cheaper this is than everything else in the area... what if this one disappears in the meantime? AaronJB Posted March 7, 2018 Report Posted March 7, 2018 Right after 2008, there were more in the way of last minute deals. In recent years as demand has continued to pick up, there's been more and more instances of prices going up as the date gets closer. Rates can go down closer to the date, but it's good to keep in mind that they can go up just as easily so if there is an appealing deal I'd consider it. The concern becomes not only can the price potentially go higher but there's also the possibility that the listing may also run out of inventory and be replaced with a possibility that you might not like as much/nearly as much. So there's the risk of price increases but there's also the view of value in liking the potential property. Thank you for keeping us updated and let us know if we can be of any further help.
