I haven't used this before.  I am looking for a hotel in the Times Square area.  I've looked on Hotwire I am wondering if the 4* hotels are good.  I have used Hotwire a couple of years ago and got Tryp Hotel as my hotel.  It was ok.  I was hoping to get more upscale this time around.  Any advice as to what to look for??

Welcome to BetterBidding!

To get started, what is your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes) for this trip?

I assume you're looking for 1room for the four of you?

I am looking for 1 room for the 4 of us.  The options are

4* 70% rec $201

4* 85% rec $235

4* New to Hotwire 75% rec $224

4.5* 90% rec $256

What hotels do you think those are?  Is there a preferable part of Times Square area?

Also the $201 hotel has a $102 resort fee.

The $235 has a $90 resort fee

The 4.5* $256 one does not have an extra fee so it ends up cheaper than the $235 for 4*

Skip the $224 one because when I look at the bed choices it does not show 2 doubles as an option

Any thoughts as to what hotels these are?  If I am not traveling until August should I wait to see if the deals get better??

What is it that you are expecting to pay per nite for this trip?

Is Times Square the only zone that you're willing to consider as you may be able to find nicer hotels and/or better values outside of this area.  I"m very familiar with NYC, and while it is important to be centrally located and have subway access nearby (ideally multiple subway stations and/or lines), this can be achieved in other areas that are outside of Times Square.

When you're searching HOTWIRE are you searching for 4adults or 1adult/3children?

I don't have a price in mind....I just want a good deal:-)

I am traveling with my triplet 17 year old daughters.  They have never been to New York so I think they would love to be right in the heart of it in the Times Square area.

I put in 1 adult/3 children but then they ask for ages so I put in that.  I would like to make sure we have 2 queens preferably.  Should I be inserting 4 adults?

You're not more likely to get 2Beds vs. 1Bed+pullout by searching for 4adults vs. 1adult/3children (maybe a negligible difference... if you see the same price for 4adults vs.1adult/3children i would book as 4adults... but if any price difference i would book the 1adult/3children as i don't think it will have any effect on the room assignment)

If you want two beds you would be better served by choosing a hotel that indicates a Bed Choice as that is the only way you will be able to ensure a room with two beds (especially in NYC where most hotels have a very high percentage of rooms with only one bed so the chances of a pullout sofabed being the 'second' bed increases)

For the current HOTWIRE offers in Times Square when searching for 1adult/3children and having an 80%+ recommendation from previous guests (ie- if you are looking for something fancier than The Tryp from your visit i hotel, such as the 4 star at $201 with a 55% recommendation from previous guests, is not going to make the grade and not worth the time/effort to research):

(NOTE: you need to use the EASY VIEW tab of BiddingHelper.com and click the GREEN "Full Amenities" button next to each listing to get the full amenity set)
