Jisu Son Posted February 20, 2018 Report Posted February 20, 2018 Hello, I am looking for 4 to 5 star hotels in New York. We will stay for 4 days from 3rd June. We have a very tight budget, so we tried to find the cheapest price in the a bit central area of New York; Times Square, Bryant Park, or Upper East/West Side, etc. We want to stay in Manhattan but not in Harlem, Brooklyn, or Queens. I can find the hotel around $175 in Expedia express deal. But we want more... :( It could be wonderful lower than $120!!! Is it possible price? Should we check just right before June to find a good price? I heard that if we search the hotel just about one month before our schedule, we can easily find it... Is that true? Can anybody help me...? T_T

To clarify, is your checkout date June 6th or June 7th? Nobody can say with certainty if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your trip, it all depends upon supply/demand (ie- how actual new reservations/cancellations come in relative to expected new reservations/cancellations). However, historically speaking i think $120 is not very likely nor realistic for these dates as it's near the end of the Spring high season in NYC. Also, we don't see as many last minute rate drops closer to travel as we did previously. When we do see this occur it's usually during a low or slower season, but generally speaking the economy is much stronger than it was 7-10 years ago and as a result hotel occupancy (and pricing power) is up as well. If you're not willing to pay current prices i would suggest you do TWO things: 1) make a back-up reservation using our sister site RefundableRates.com. This way you now have a realistic 'price to beat' (remember also that sometimes it's not just price though... you may want to spend $10 more than your back-up reservation if it's a substantial jump in quality)... you're protected from rates rising from here, but if a good deal becomes available, you can simply cancel the refundable rate and take advantage of the new deal you have found. 2) user our just re-launched RateDrop service. Set alerts for the star rating and zone combinations at the price you're willing to pay... if a deal does come into your 'buy zone' you'll receive an email letting you know a hotel has come into your price range Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know if you have any questions regarding the above or once you're ready to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
