Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (USW) Pan Pacific Hotel

Tried to impress a colleague with Priceline's great rates, but, sadly, nothing in the order of $70, $80 or even $90 was forthcoming on the dates he wanted.

I suggested splitting the stay as retail websites showed a steep difference in rates within the dates of the stay, but he didn't want to risk having to change hotels.

Consequently, we went through every combination of rebids, targeted at getting a 4* in either USE or USW, even needing the 72hour wait, until finally the following bid was accepted:

Your Offer Price: $125.00

Number of Rooms: 1

Number of Nights: 3

Subtotal: $375.00

Taxes & Service Fees: $65.03

Total Charges: $440.03

I'm not sure what the event is that I'm assuming has pushed up rates at that time, but hope this information is useful to someone.

Although $125 is still good in a city such as San Francisco during a high occupancy period, I usually explore other options when I'm rejected at the $100 mark (or above) w/Priceline.

For instance, Hotwire is selling what is probably the 4-star Hotel Monaco or Prescott for $103 during your dates. I'm a local and would personally rate both Monaco & Prescott as comparable to Pan Pacific.

Also, I'm finding Travelzoo to be a terrific resource whenever Priceline or Hotwire don't cut it. In your case

Pan Pacific is one of Travelzoo's feature hotels this week.
