Does this work for your needs this trip?  Unless your goal is simply the least expensive hotel as possible i would try to seek something out that has a higher percent recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests.

Thanks for the quick reply! As always, I appreciate your help. Based on reviews, the Paramount doesn't look like a great hotel. Here's what I'm looking for:

Under $225 (Row NYC, where I've stayed before, can be booked prepaid around this amount, so it would have to be a better hotel under this amount to make it worth it)

Prefer Times Square South as I'm traveling on my own and have stayed in this area multiple times. 

Would also consider Times Square North and Midtown West

Queen/full bed is fine. No other specific needs.

 

I assume most of the hotels in the area will charge the $30 facilities fee, like Paramount and Row do, but if someone else knows better, that could be a price factor.

Although more and more NYC hotels are starting to charge resort fees, the majority still do not (although it continues to get closer to 50/50 every day).

 

Some suggestions (confirm your dates on the landing page of any links provided below):

 

4.5* Grand Central Terminal - UN for $237 (with the board Priceline Coupon this comes down to $225... and no known resort fee!)

==> best guess here would be the Even Hotel New York - Midtown East, and although not in the Times Square area (actually a bit far east) this is a new hotel and chain that has been getting terrific reviews (would be a big step up in quality vs. the Row, imo).  If you did want to hang out in your 'old stomping ground' it would be easier enough to get to the Times Square area via the M42 bus that goes up/down 42nd St or the 7 or S train from Grand Central

 

4.5* HOTWIRE Midtown East for $202.00

After posting another request for help and looking through my history, I realized I never closed this one out. A change in plans had us traveling to DC for the holidays instead, so I didn't end up booking this New York trip, sadly.
