auntto6cuties Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 I have never used priceline.com. I am looking for a room this Saturday to sunday(we already have reservations sunday-tuesday). Not sure where the best areas to stay would be, but we are very familiar with the city, so options are open at this time. I am terrified of getting a gross hotel since I cant see. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Welcome to BetterBidding! As i'm sure you're aware (or finding out) these dates wrap up the seasonally expensive time of year in NYC as visitors come for a visit just before the holidays. Are any of these of interest (confirm your dates on the landing page after clicking any of the links provided below): 4* Empire State Building Area for $303 Restaurant Free Internet No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess would be the Marriott Vacation Club Pulse, New York City 4.5* Empire State Building Area for $336 Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC 4.5* Madison Square Garden - Convention Area for $340 Pets Allowed Business Center Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan NOTE: this is a new property and currently the #1 rated hotel in NYC with a 5.0 TA rating, so you may want to consider stretching your budget a bit for this one as it sounds like you like/care about 'nice' hotels Any of the above work for your needs this trip? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. PS- not sure where you're staying or your needs for the other 3 nites and/or if your current reservation is cancelable, but for the balance of your stay i'm seeing things like the highly rated NobleDEN Hotel for $163/nite and the Even Hotel New York Times Square South for $185/nite, should either of these be of interest and better than your current reservation. AaronJB Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 I'm seeing (please confirm that the correct dates of travel are showing on the detail page after clicking the link below.) 4* Downtown - Wall Street for $270 Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Best guess would be the Club Quarters Wall Street. 49 minutes ago, auntto6cuties said: we are staying at Sheraton Four Points the other 2 nights At what price? auntto6cuties Posted December 5, 2017 Author Report Posted December 5, 2017 We used points for the Sheraton. but i did just book on Priceline for a 3.5 star and got ahotel with bad reviews and am super bummed ugh
thereuare Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Did you bid on PRICELINE or take a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal? Obviously it wasn't any of the above since those are all higher rated than 3.5 stars. What did you get and for what amount? If PRICELINE EXPRESS do you recall the amenities that were associated with the property? auntto6cuties Posted December 5, 2017 Author Report Posted December 5, 2017 It was a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. It was for $264/night and said comparable to Crowne Plaza, Doubletree, Hilton, Hyatt, etc it ended up with NH New York Jolly Madison Towers ugh I guess trying to save $70 wasn’t worth it 🙄🙄
thereuare Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Thank you for providing the details of your purchase. auntto6cuties Posted December 5, 2017 Author Report Posted December 5, 2017 Luckily the hotel agreed to cancel for free! Yes i should have listened to your suggestions. How confident are you that the suggestion above for the 4 star Empire State is the Marriott vacation club? I think i want to go with that one
thereuare Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 As this topic already reflects your purchase (although now canceled) at the NH Jolly, please start a NEW TOPIC for your replacement stay. You may also want to consider: If you have the funds available to make a cash purchase you may also want to consider finding a replacement for your 12/10-12/12 stay and saving those points for a more 'valuable' stay. Assuming you're paying 12K-16K in points per nite, 12K-16K in points is worth about $300-$400 (so about $600-$800 for the 2 nites)... but for 12/10-12/12 you could get a nicer hotel thru PRICELINE / HOTWIRE for $400-$500 all-in, so a suggestion would be to save your points for higher demand dates (such as 12/9-12/10); but we can further discuss this in your newly created topic if this is an option for you (and don't cancel and current reservations until you have a replacement secured).
