Priceline Hotel: 4.5* New York (Midtown East) San Carlos Hotel New York

Two adults, three kids.  Ages 6, 5, 1.  Looking to take the family to NYC to see the parade.

Last year, I got the Kimberly Hotel for about $1,100 for four nights, including taxes and fees.  I've looked on Hotwire again and it looks like the Kimberly is going to be over $1,600, which seems a little rich.

Found this on Priceline and was hoping for help identifying the property:

4.5 star Midtown East for $268/night.  It looks me choose either a regular room for $219 or a 1 Bedroom Suite for $268.  The suite is definitely needed for my brood.

This looks to me like it would be the Intercontinental Barclays, which would be great.  However, I am concerned that it might be the San Carlos, which doesn't look quite as nice.

Any thoughts on what hotel this is would be great.  Also, would love to hear if anyone else has a suggestion for that time period with three kids.  The baby can cosleep with mom and dad, but it is nice to just have space.  We still go back to the room midday for naps.  We don't have to be midtown east, but it was great being close to Ess a Bagel last year.

Welcome to BetterBidding and congratulations on your success!

Although not the hotel you were expecting, hope you're happy with the outcome (over $100/nite savings!) and are looking forward to your trip.

You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us add the amenity set for this property to the Priceline Express Hotel List.

So I bought the insurance for this trip through Priceline. It was only $20.

I got an email from Allianz staying that it only covers $500 of the cost. I called Allianz to see why it wouldn't cover the entire trip. They referred me back to Priceline. Priceline said they aren't qualified to talk about the policy and sent me back to Allianz.

Anybody know what is going on with this?  The protection seemed cheap but it's really odd that it would have such a low cap.

Thanks for the tip on Ess a Bagel. I've been there before and it did influence my decision!

Did you write them first to ask the amount of coverage or this just a form letter thanking you for purchasing the insurance?

What exactly is covered up to $500/day... is it the hotel room, trip interruption, etc?

I did try to go thru a 'dummy purchase' to read the full terms/conditions but there were different terms based upon what state you're located in and i didn't know your location.

Do you think you may need to use the insurance or just trying to learn more for the future?
