Tonight was my first time using Priceline. I am very pleased with the results.

FYI - I'm Canadian, and there was no problem with a Canadian address nor Canadian-issued Visa c/c.

I started at 2.5*, Downtown Ottawa, $55. Was very worried that I would get a real 2.5* hotel (wanted a swimming pool). When it came back Marriot, I was thrilled.

Total Charges: $188.86 (US dollars)

With the strong CAD versus USD, it'll only cost about $215 for 3 nights! $72 CAD/night! Amazing. Their website has the room priced at $179 CAD + taxes. Huge savings.

I was especially surprised, since we're so close to the booking date. Am I wrong to assume the further away you are, the better your odds of getting a good deal (aside from the usual high traffic dates)?

Many thanks to all who contribute to this website. I've been reading it for about 6 months now (was planning a WDW trip with the kids, but didn't go) - but I had never used hotwire or priceline before tonight.
