Hello everyone!

First time on betterbidding, I am looking at booking a hotel in NYC for November 10-14.

I looked through HOTWIRE at the 4* World Trade Center - Wall St for $127 USD

Total: $508 + $155.62 - $10 = $653.62

Complimentary:

Free Internet

Amenities:

Boutique Hotel | Business Center | Fitness Center | Restaurant(s) | Smoke-free rooms

Is this a decent deal? Also any help in potentially ID-ing the hotel would be really appreciated :D

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you search using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool. (always use this method for your searches/purchases to ensure you're seeing the complete amenity set and for an easy comparison of PRICELINE vs. HOTWIRE, as well as to use our new IS THIS A GOOD PRICE feature).

If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for the 4 star hotel in this zone when searching for your dates:

4* HOTWIRE World Trade Center - Wall Street for $129.00
Free Internet
Boutique
Smoke Free
Fitness
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
==> if this is what you're seeing, best guess for this one would be the Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial District

As far as being a good deal, it depends what you're looking for...

If price is the sole factor, then this is a decent deal as this is peak season in NYC and you don't often see too many 4 star hotels for much less than this.  However, 'Downtown' is not the most centrally located part of the city for the average tourist... it's certainly do-able, and at the 'right price' can be worthwhile if the price is substantially less than staying in midtown, but do realize that you're giving up a bit of convenience by staying 'Downtown'.

If you go for the offer above let us know how it goes, or let us know your maximum budget (per nite before taxes/fees) and we will try to find you the best option that meets your criteria.

If your budget is flexible, this is a property that i'm recommending any time it is offered at a reasonable price (confirm your dates on the landing page of the provided links):

4.5* Madison Square Garden - Convention Area for $191 (although 5% less using our Priceline Coupon)
Pets Allowed
Business Center
Free Internet
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess for this one would be the Crowne Plaza Hy36 Midtown Manhattan which is a new hotel, has been getting excellent reviews (5.0 TA rating), and is currently the #1 reviewed/recommended hotel in NYC as per TA.  Depending upon how flexible/tight your budget is will determine if it's worth an extra $50/nite for the excellent reviews and central location.

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Let us know if you go for either of the above OR how we can be of further help.

Thanks for your quick response!

I will definitely be coming back to this site earlier than a week prior for future vacations!

Price is definitely one of our major sticking points as we plan on getting the 7 day metro passes and want to explore Brooklyn for a day.

You were right! Got the Holiday Inn right by Rector St station!

Thank you for your help and response!

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that it will work well for your needs and budget.

Two suggestions (both are restaurants... not 'slice' shops):
1) an easy walk from your hotel i recommend this place:

Adrienne's Pizzabar

54 Stone St

==> stick with the 'grandma' style pie which is what they are most well known for

2) since you're heading to brooklyn one day (although this is very close to the river so more 'just outside of Manhattan' than 'in the heart of Brooklyn'):

Juliana's

19 Old Fulton St

==> expect a line at most hours unless you get there just before it opens (and they stop serving pizza from 3:15pm-4:00pm in order to stoke the coal oven).  This doesn't need to be your 'Brooklyn day' (given how close it is to Manhattan) but a good few hours is: Take the A/C train to High St, walk down the hill to Juliana's (wait online unless you're one of the first there for lunch), then after eating walk back via the Brooklyn Bridge and take in the NYC Skyline view (as well as the Statue of Liberty in the distance)... but only walk the bridge if it's a nice day as otherwise it will get cold and windy quickly.

Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase.

Enjoy your stay.
