daves32
I am debating for a Hotwire hot deals between two zones. I’m debating if it’s worth the $50+ to stay in flatiron/union square. The options are: -4* -nyc midtown east -11/10-11/11 -$147 -free Internet, biz center, pet friendly, restaurant, fitness center, smoke free -it appears this has been booked as the Even Hotel lately. That’s a new name to me. -4* —nyc union square/flatorin -11/10-11-11 -$193 -free Internet, fitness center, pet friendly, restaurant. Smoke free im a little concerned about this because I think the marcel at gramercy is in this zone and star rating. Have stayed there on opaque sale before. The interior room was tiny and loud. Help. Is it worth the extra money? Any other ideas in similar zones or star level? Link to comment
thereuare
I'm very familiar with NYC... what is it exactly that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip and what is your maximum budget? My suggestion would be this one (confirm your dates on the landing page after clicking the link provided below): 4.5* Madison Square Garden - Convention Area for $184 Pets Allowed Business Center Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> as per the Priceline Express Hotel List this matches previous reports for the Crowne Plaza Hy36 Midtown Manhattan which is a new hotel, has a noteworthy 5.0/5.0 TA rating, and is currently the number one rated/reviewed hotel in NYC... this would be worth the extra money over the MTE property (and never bad to save money vs. the lower star rated Union Square property) Does this work for your needs this trip? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. PS- please also follow-up your previous New York City Hotwire hotel thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. daves32
That 4.5* near MSG Isn’t showing up for me. Perhaps it sold out. I’ll buy this morning to avoid another disappointment. We have no amenity requirements except non smoking and perhaps a likelihood of a single king bed. We also generally prefer the quieter areas where taking a casual stroll is a little easier. Hence why we’ve enjoyed the area around gramercy and flatiron over toward the village in the past. We are going to a show this time but will not stay in Times Square. All that said, we are just looking for your perception of the current best value. Looking for a rate under $200 (before taxes and fees) Link to comment

daves32
I appreciate that effort very much. I did find that listing. I think that will just be too much in the Times Square mix Link to comment
thereuare
It's just one nite in NYC, and while this hotel would be an easy walk to Times Square, that area could also be easily avoidable if that was your desire as well (this hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the start of the Union Square zone)... what is it exactly about the Times Square area that concerns you or that you're trying to avoid? What is it that you plan to see/do while in the city? As i've stated in other posts... if you have a chance to stay at a 5.0/5.0 TA rated hotel within your budget you do so (imo); the fact that this is now the #1 rated hotel in NYC is just further icing on the cake to make an easy decision even easier.
