theory12 Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 :) In my eagerness and excitement to get a room, I kinda forgot the rules (you gave me a strategy before, with different dates--could never get New York for $160 over July 4th) and paid prob $20 more that I should have. I selected 4* MTW at $140, rebid twice with Upper zones, and they were rejected at $145 and $150. I then added MTE at $155 and got it. I know I should have started over with MTE at $140, then added the rebid Upper zones and I bet I would have gotten it for under $150 or so. Oh well, happy with my stay...3 nights at $155 each, with taxes, comes to about $550. NYC!! Wohoo!!! I can't wait! The subway is kinda intimidating but I am next to Grand Central so I am sure I will figure it out. I want to go to Times Square (easy qhick hop or walk), Chinatown, Little Italy, Museum of Mod Art, etc. I think these all link from the TimesSquare station/stop. Is the shopping in Chinatown really good for clothes??
thereuare Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 LOTS of transportation options from this location! For Times Square you can walk, take the 7 or S train, or the M42 or M104 bus (the 104 may turn at B'way, i forget). For Chinatown and South just hop on the 4,5, or 6... the 4 or 5 is better for further distances as it's express and will save you a bit of time.Chinatown clothing is "knock-offs" (imitation namebrand stuff). There has been a big crackdown with the police shutting down some warehouses lately, so i'm not sure if this has affected street availability at all... although i'd assume that most stuff is still readily available.Have a great NYC trip!
