Would like some advice on bidding....

Details:

Dates: 5/20 - 5/23 (3 nights)

Desired Locations: MTE, MTW, UM/CPS

1 Room, 2 adults

Perfer 4*+

Max bid ~ $150 - 175/night

Am aware of rebidding

I have reviewed "WHALAW's" post from 2/12 and your response. Do you recommend the same strategy for my dates? One question on your advice to WHALAW, why did you not suggest adding Upper West Side (which only has 2 & 2.5 *'s) or Upper East Side (only has 3 & 2 *'s) to get in two more bid in per zone?

If 4* is unsuccessful, willing to try again a 3*.

If you look at the strategy you are refering to we do suggest using re-bid zones (as we don't call the zones by name as every user should know how to check their re-bid zones (as per Priceline Re-Bidding Explained)). If we posted the zones by name, eventually they would change, and a future user will then utilize a strategy posted for somebody else and be upset when they win a hotel i a zone that they thought was a re-bid zone (since it was when originally posted, but no longer).

Should i assume your maximum bid is $175? (and not $150)

Bidding attempt this weekend failed. Plan to try again on Tuesday which is when my 72 hours is up.

Is something going on in NYC 5/20 - 5/23? Or is it just prime tourist season? GEEZ.....

Tried again. No luck at 4* up to $175.

Even tried 3* up to $125. No luck.

Will have hubby try tonite. If no success, again tomorrow. I may just have to anti up...

Glad you finally got your plans settled... more than you wanted to originally spend but still significant savings over a traditional booking.

Was $200 your first bid on this round of bidding? If not, what was your highest bid which included the MTE zone?

P.S. Thanks for updating the header line, but my winning bid was $200.

Also, any clue why teh Intercontinental The Barclay has had so many winning bids lately?

Fixed the bid price in the topic title.

Everything comes/goes in cycles... the IC is getting more aggressive in opaque pricing. I remember years ago it was the Grand Hyatt that was usually the cheapest, then MTE got tough and MTW became the zone with the best value.. things constantly change.
