Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago (Mag Mile-Wacker Drive) Swissotel

After tax/fees it was closer to $71 or $72. Retail rate was about $135.

Ammenities: restaurant(s), fitness center, spa, and tennis nearby ... Also the site has 2 reviews, one person saying that they have a lake view, another saying they have a room that overlooked right onto the lake (going back and looking at the hotel I think is the Swissotel, I only see the review of the lake, I don't see the review that mentions the river... perhaps they randomly switch them out). This alone clued us in that it must be the swissotel, since there is really only 1 other hotel that is on the river that also has a good lake view.

So it was a steal... (Not all that romantic I know, but I actually live in chicago, and this was a not much more expensive alternative to taking a late night cab home after dinner...). we asked, and got a late check out (a lot of people reviewing swissotel on tripadvisor said they were unable to get this with the hotwire rate. the staff was actually really friendly to us, and the room was nice.)

.... as it turns out they don't actually have a spa, which was a huge disappointment. instead, they have a contract service they call in (you have to make a 24 advance appt.), and the rates are way jacked up.

Hotel was listed as "customer favorite" at the time as well ...
