Looking for a 4 star hotel ideally in manhattan around this range. What I like about this price is that whichever hotel they direct me to doesn't have a resort fee. According to the description anyway. Thanks for your help!

Staying downtown is certainly do-able, but typically midtown is more convenient for the average visitor, assuming most of your activities are not centered around Downtown/Wall St.

 

Four about the same price you may want to consider this one (confirm your dates on the landing page of the link provided below):

4* Grand Central Terminal - UN for $160
Restaurant
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess for this one would be the Club Quarters Hotel, Grand Central which would be a better location than downtown, imo.  This would be about a 10-15 minute walk to Times Square (or you could take the subway from Grand Central)... as well as the subway at Lexington Ave/53rd St a little further away for the E and M lines.

(slight chance this could also be the Hotel Boutique At Grand Central but the two are very near each other so would be my same comments location-wise... and both get very good reviews with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating)
