thereuare
Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding! For this HOTWIRE offer: 4.5* Magnificent Mile - Water Tower for $140.00 Pet Friendly Boutique Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Childrens Activities ==> from the Hotwire Hotel List this matches previous reports for the W Chicago - Lakeshore and that would be my best guess for this one I'll leave it to AaronJB to comment on the proximity to the things you want to see/do, but you can see the location of this hotel HERE. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. AaronJB
The W Lakeshore is across Lake Shore Drive from the lakefront. Navy Pier is a few minutes walk away from the hotel. It's a bit of a walk to Michigan Ave, but weather in Chicago in the Fall is often super comfortable which makes it a lot easier to take longer strolls around the city. This property goes have rooms that are lake view, but those are paid upgrades. You can ask about a lake view room at check-in if that's of interest and see what they say, but if not, you may want to ask for a higher floor room on the other side to try and get a better city view. One other thought that I have is this on PRICELINE EXPRESS (please confirm the correct dates of travel on the detail page after clicking the link below.) 3.5* Magnificent Mile -Gold Coast for $147 Business Center Free Internet Free Breakfast Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>A guess would be the Fairfield Inn Mag Mile or the Residence Inn Mag Mile (the location on Walton.) On the detail page for this listing, one of the bed choice options you should see is "studio with lake view" for $151, so I would lean more towards this being the Residence. Then the code in my signature takes 5% off. If you were to take the lake view bed choice upgrade the 5% discount would bring the per night to around $143 and change. There's also 1BR and 2BR upgrade bed options on this listing for more. The 1BR for $154 is also not a bad deal as while not a guaranteed view, that's definitely a large space. So, while this potential Residence Inn option would not be a 4.5* and would not have a pool, the benefit is a larger studio room w/kitchenette, free breakfast (nice added value) and an upgraded lake view for about the same price as the potential W. If this is the Residence, that would put you by the top end of the Michigan Ave area, but that's an extremely nice area and this is on a very nice side street right off Michigan Ave.. The Hancock (and consider the signature room instead of the Hancock Observatory) is a couple of blocks away, but this also puts you closer to a subway station (on State/Chicago). Additionally, I'll note that you can catch a bus from Michigan Ave up to Lincoln Park Zoo, which is a great (and free) option. You could walk up Michigan Ave to Lincoln Park from there, as well if it's a nice day and you're in the mood for a long walk. Let us know your thoughts and please let us know if you have any questions (hotel or city - very familiar with the city and would be happy to answer any questions) before booking. brewcrewfan80
Hi @thereuare & @AaronJB, Thanks for all the helpful information! Do you see any other listings you'd recommend for a family of four going on an educational (& fun!) trip to the Chicago downtown? A pool would be nice, the kiddos always want to do that when we travel! Close to the shopping and restaurants is good too. Thanks again! Link to comment
AaronJB
There are a couple of other options with pool, but they start to get noticeably more expensive, including things like On HOTWIRE I see: 4.5* Riverwalk-North Loop $175 Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Spa services, Children's activities, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower >>>Guess would be Swissotel, but for about $30 more than the potential W the difference in location isn't that significant. And I also see what may be the Doubletree Mag Mile for about the same price as the W and the Residence Inn, but the W is a nicer hotel a few blocks away and the Residence Inn would be a better value (larger rooms, breakfast, water view if you took that upgraded bed choice option on the detail page.) Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if we can be of any further assistance. brewcrewfan80
Hi all, Used PRICELINE EXPRESS with the BetterBidding link as suggested by @AaronJB and received the Residence Inn on Walton as expected. Chose the 1 Bedroom Suite for a little extra room, $149 per night. Looking forward to a fun trip with the family, and I think this property will make it very nice for us, with plenty of room to spread out when we're not exploring the city! Thanks again!
