inkblot Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I am pretty new to Priceline and this board but have studied the rules and previous posts. I bid for a 4* USE for $83 for 3/16 to 3/19 and was rejected. Tried to add USW, rejected, then re-bid adding Cathedral Hill at $84 was rejected. Am I approaching this right? Do I just need to wait and re-try after 72 hours?

inkblot Posted February 28, 2006 Author Report Posted February 28, 2006 Arriving March 16, checking out March 19. Would probably go as high as $98 for a 4* USE or USW hotel.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 When bidding 4* in San Francisco you have three re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained.Let us know if you know your three re-bid zones based upon the above info, feel free to confirm them with the rest of the board, and from there we'll suggest a strategy as to how to proceed. inkblot Posted February 28, 2006 Author Report Posted February 28, 2006 It looks like only USE USW and FW are the only areas with 4* hotels in SF. I don't want to stay at FW. The available free re-bid zones would be Cathedral Hill, Civic Center and So San Francisco?
thereuare Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Select 4* USE and re-bid zone1 (<--any of the three but not Cathedral Hill)...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USW and re-bid zone1 (<--any of the three but not Cathedral Hill)...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* USE and USW and re-bid zone1 (<--any of the three but not Cathedral Hill)...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $98.The above will allow you to bid again immediately, without waiting out the 72 hour lock-out. If you try the above and fail, or don't bid again until after 72 hours from your previous bid, then don't follow the above and we'll revise accordingly.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. mattrock Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Hi.I just booked in USE. Because I needed a room for tomorrow night, I didn't want to hassel with re-bidding - and I wanted USE. So, I bid $101 on my first bid and it was accepted.I know that's over your max. But remember, a beer costs $5 or more in this city.
inkblot Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 what do you mean by zone 1, zone 2, zone 3? (any other zone than Cathedral Hill?)Why not Cathedral Hill since they don't have any 4* hotels?I also don't want Fisherman's Wharf
inkblot Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 I went ahead and re-bid I think in this order:USW $85, rejectedUSW, USE, $88 rejectedUSW, Civic Center $90, ACCEPTEDthis was for dates 3/16 to 3/19I got Hilton San Francisco Financial District, which looks like it used to be a Holiday Inn.Used the PRICELINE link from SavingsBarn.comSeems like a great rate. Thanks for all your help.
thereuare Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Glad you got it settled and at a good rate... your first priceline experience, right?Interestingly enough this hotel is showing sold-out on their website for this complete stay (one date of the three is available at $175+/nite).Thank you for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com to begin your bidding.Have a great stay!
