Hi together,

we're 6 boys from Germany and getting to Las Vegas between 10/13-10/19. We're looking forward to get 2  5*Hotels (or 4,5*) with casino on Strip for 3 nights each of them. When I looked at the prices of PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals I was really shocked because prices are really high. Over 180$/night. We have been there a few times before and it was always much cheaper. Do u know what is the reason for that?

Now we would try to name our own price on Priceline to get a better offer. What could be possible to get one time Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn oder Encore (Northeast 5*) and second time Cosmo, Bellagio or Cesar's (Central West)?

Many thanks for your help to make our holiday MUCH better.

Welcome to Betterbidding.

Rates in major cities can vary significantly from day-to-day; if there's a convention or even going on during this period rates are going to be above average. Rates are also seasonal - there are quieter times of year that are less expensive.

With NYOP on PRICELINE, prices are usually slightly-to-mildly less tha PRICELINE EXPRESS deals, but the other issue is that there is no guarantee of getting a hotel with casino as there are 5* properties on the strip that do not have casino and there is no way to avoid a hotel when bidding. PRICELINE EXPRESS/HOTWIRE are generally slightly/mildly more expensive than bidding, but the benefit is that you are given information that allows one to make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing.

Are you looking for 2 rooms for 10/13-16 and then two rooms for 10/16-19 or one room for three nights and one room for the other three? What would be your desired budget per room/per night?

Many thanks for your fast answer. I'm looking for 2 rooms 10/13-10/16 and 2 rooms 10/16-10/19. Our desired budget for room/per night would be about 130$.

I cannot find any big conventions or events in this period and so I don't understand why prices are much higher than e.g. now. Would it be better to wait until booking about 2 weeks before our trip? Because if I look now for the next two weeks prices are about half of my period in October.

Many thanks again for your information.

Summer is low season in Las Vegas which is part of the reason you're likely seeing lower rates now than in October.

Please use separate threads for each leg of your trip so we can then edit the topic title of each to reflect what was purchased for each set of dates (and then a link will also automatically be created in our Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps)

For your weekend dates at a 5* hotel on the strip (with a Casino) i'm seeing rates in the $150-$175 range, which really is not that bad fr this time of year... it would need to be fairly slow in Vegas to see these go for much cheaper for weekend nites.  However, before getting deeper into a rate discussion, note that you also have to deal with an occupancy issue...

All PRICELINE reservations are for double occupancy and if i understand your post correctly you would like triple occupancy in room.  Most hotels in Las Vegas, especially the higher end properties on the strip, now charge extra for guests over double occupancy (as well as for rooms with two beds).  So you have a few choices:

-choose a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that shows a 'bed choice' where one of the bed choices is for a room with 2 beds.  Technically your reservation is still only for double occupancy, but i don't know of anyone who has yet had an issue when showing up with the number of guests that the room is designed to accommodate. (you could do the same with HOTWIRE, search for double occupancy but choose a room type that shows two beds).  If you do go this route, it may be a good idea to only have 1-2 people go to the front desk at check-in (there is enough to do in Vegas for somebody else to 'wonder' the lobby) just to be on the safe side and avoid any possibility of the hotel wanting to charge extra for the 'extra' guest

-search HOTWIRE for 3adults as they guarantee sleeping accommodations for everyone that you include in your search (although the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed or rollaway brought into the room)

On the positive side most of the 5* Las Vegas hotels standard rooms have a pullout sofabed, so if this is an acceptable option it can help using the first option since based upon the hotel(s) we think are offered you can see which one(s) have a pullout sofabed as a standard room amenity.

Let us know your thoughts (regarding occupancy) and we'll take it from there... but either way you may have to raise your expectations from the $130 area for weekend nites at a 5* property (with casino) on the Strip.

Many thanks for your detailed explanation. Let's talk about 10/13-10/16 in this thread (you can change topic):

Regarding occupancy I would take the risk probably to get only one bed and to use the sofabed in that case. 3 rooms would be to expensive so we take the risk that the third guy has to lie on the sofa or in bad case on the floor :-)

3 years ago we made it the same way and went to the front desk only with 2 of 3 persons. We used the 20$-trick and always were lucky to get high floor 2 queen bed rooms (Venetian, Vdara).

--> Could we get some problems with room keys? E.g. that we only get 2 keys for a room and get controlled at the elevator if we have a key for every person?

So let's try it in this way: 10/13-10/16 - 2 rooms -  5* (or Caesar's) casino hotel on strip

Rising budget to a maximum of 175$

Preferred hotels Encore, Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, Caesar's, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan

When searching on PRICELINE EXPRESS for 2 rooms for 10/13-16, I'm seeing within your desired range (please confirm after clicking the link below that the correct dates and # of rooms are showing.)

5* The Strip - Northeast for $189
Restaurant
Airport Shuttle
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
>>>Guess would be the Venetian

5* The Strip - Southwest for $159
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
>>>Guess would be the Aria.

4.5* The Strip - Northwest for $151
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
>>>Likely Mirage

Without casino:

5* The Strip - Northwest for $128
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

>>>Trump would be the likely guess.

And the promotion in my signature takes another 5% off those prices.

Elevator security (in my experience) only asks to see one key per group, so i don't think you will have any issues with the guards asking to see everyone's key.

After a few hours the person whose room the name is can go to the desk and claim a 'lost key' in which case they will create two new ones for you.  The previous keys won't work anymore, but they will work enough to get back up to the room (assuming one of you is still in the room to let the person in, since the 'old' key will be voided when you get the new keys issues)

If you're concerned about the security guard asking about a key for everyone you could just say that you're staying at the hotel and showing your friends your room... but i've never heard of security asking for a key for each person in a group, i highly doubt that will happen.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Good luck and let us know how we can be of further help.
