Priceline Hotel: New York Sep 14- 18 (4 nights) - Please Help Find Hotel

My girlfriend and I will be driving to New York from Toronto this September. We are on a tight budget and are looking for a hotel that is close to New York (can be in New Jersey as long as its easy to travel). We won't be spending a lot of time at the hotel anyways so it's okay if its not the fanciest Hotel (likely will just come back to sleep). Some things we plan on doing/visiting are:

 

- 911 Museum

- Brooklyn Bridge

- Statue of Liberty

- Watch a Broadway production

- Times square

 

Can people suggest hotels. I am also new to this so can somebody please explain how this works and what the best way to get a good rate would be. Thanks
