thereuare Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 Not sure if your listed budget is room rate only or all-in (please always post your budget on the board in terms of per nite before taxes/fees) but do any of the following work for your needs (our best guess for each is listed below each... confirm your dates on the landing page of any provided links): 3* Manhattan Beach - Hermosa Beach - Redondo Beach for $112 Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Free Breakfast Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess for this one would be the Best Western Plus South Bay Hotel 3.5* HOTWIRE Torrance for $113.00 Free Parking Free Internet Boutique Shuttle Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Deaf Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Handicapped Parking ==> Miyako Hybrid Hotel Torrance (highly reviewed!) 4* HOTWIRE Downtown Long Beach - Waterfront - The Pike Outlets for $117.00 Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ==> Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Santy Posted August 8, 2017 Author Report Posted August 8, 2017 I am inclined towards the Miyako hybrid. The Hyatt with parking and other hotels costs may add up. Is it worth try bidding to see if I will be lucky to get any other better properties?
AaronJB Posted August 8, 2017 Report Posted August 8, 2017 If you bid 3.5*, you have to be willing to accept ANY hotel at that star rating and you may be upgraded to the next highest star rating. If you want the potential Miyako, is it worth slight-to-moderate savings to risk potentially getting something else (and one that could potentially have a parking fee)? Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
Santy Posted August 8, 2017 Author Report Posted August 8, 2017 I got Miyaku Hybrid for $113 from HOTWIRE. Thanks for your help.

As per our previous reply a few years back you can't always replicate another user's win as rates are date specific and, among other factors, are based upon supply vs. demand: On 4/27/2009 at 5:41 PM, thereuare said: Rates are date specific, so you can't assume that you will be able to duplicate somebody elses winning bid when their dates are different than your own. Check out this Priceline Tampa Grand Hyatt thread for dates after your own (so it's not necessarily that you're bidding too early) where the user won 2 weeks ago at $50. If you search the Hyatt website for the dates that user won you'll see that there is a non-refundable rate for $120/nite and a refundable rate of $149/nite. Then search for your own dates and you'll see rates of $179 and $189 respectively. The above indicates that demand for your dates are stronger, and hotel direct rates are higher, then when we typically see $50 bids won. As a result of the higher hotel direct rates, it may also likely require a higher PRICELINE bid to be successful. Now demand for hotels is a fluid situation and nobody can say how it will ultimatley play out... maybe demand gets stronger and rates go even higher OR maybe demand softens (the hotel gets a bunch of cancellations) between now and you're stay and you're ultimately successful at $50 or less, but i think you're making too much of an assumption that you'll be successful at $46-$47. I haven't looked too close at the HOTWIRE offer, but are you sure it's the Grand Hyatt (i'm thinking it may not be)? If it's being offered for $56, the hotel is selling direct for $179, why are you waiting for? While you try to save another $5 on PRICELINE this property could disappear and the $100+ disappears as well (but i'd highly recommend getting a confirmation on the hotel before you purchase) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
