rina37873 Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 My friend and I are visiting New York City for the first time and want to find a hotel that is centrally located (we'd like to be walking distance), relatively clean, and safe. Our dates are August 31 to September 3 (Labor Day weekend...which we know is going to be pricey). Looking at Priceline, we're seeing two options in the express deals. Does anyone know what these hotels could possibly be? And if so, are they good choices. 4 star Rockefeller Center - Bryant Park Area--$188 Fitness center, Business Center, Restaurant, no smoking rooms/facilities Queen bed non-smoking club room I'm thinking this might be Club Quarters Hotel Midtown. What do you guys think? 4.5 star Midtown West-Hell's Kitchen--$184 Pets allowed, Restaurant, No Smoking I'm thinking this might be Kimpton Ink48. Any help would be great! And suggestions are very welcome!
AaronJB Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 Welcome to Betterbidding. Looking at PRICELINE EXPRESS, a few suggestions when looking for 8/31-9/3 (please confirm the correct dates of travel are showing on the detail page after clicking the links below.) 4* Empire State Building Area for $174 Pets Allowed Business Center Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>St Giles the Court (which was formerly a W property) would be my guess. 4.5* Midtown West - Hell's Kitchen for $180 Pets Allowed Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Kimpton Ink48 (which is a little out of the way but a well-reviewed property) would be a guess. 4* Rockefeller Center - Bryant Park for $183 Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Club Quarters Opposite Rockefeller would be my guess 4.5* Chelsea Area for $188 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Guess would be INNside New York Nomad 5* Chelsea Area for $204 Pets Allowed Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>The Nomad Hotel would be a guess. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if we can be of any further assistance. rina37873 Posted August 5, 2017 Author Report Posted August 5, 2017 From the areas mentioned above, do you have a suggestion of which area/hotel would be the best option?
thereuare Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 I'm very familiar with NYC, if you let us know your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes) we will suggest the best option(s) for your trip (either from those above OR from anything else i see) as currently i don't know if something such as The Nomad Hotel above is something that i should consider since it's a few dollars more than the hotels you originally inquired above. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. EDIT TO ADD: 59 minutes ago, rina37873 said: centrally located (we'd like to be walking distance) NYC is very condense, but for a city it's also geographically large, so you're not going to be able to walk everywhere and will need to use subways (best option) or taxis a bit... in NYC being 'centrally located' is more about being near a subway station (ideally multiple stations and multiple subway lines) as that is usually the quickest, most convenient, and more affordable way to get around when your destination is too far to walk (and not to worry, you will still walk a LOT) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rina37873 Posted August 5, 2017 Author Report Posted August 5, 2017 We want to stay under $200. We won't be using subways because my friend has immunity issues (bone marrow transplant a few years ago) and is hesitant to go take subways. But we were thinking of using taxis/uber/lyft where necessary.
rina37873 Posted August 6, 2017 Author Report Posted August 6, 2017 We ended up booking the Midtown West one...got Kimpton Ink48! Just thought the property looked better and more spacious. Thanks for all of your help!
AaronJB Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 Congrats on your success. Really nice win for this Kimpton property! Glad you are pleased with the win and are looking forward to your stay. This property is only a few blocks away from the Intrepid Museum (https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/The-Intrepid-Experience/Exhibits.aspx), which I think offers a pretty fantastic/unique experience. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Enjoy your stay.
