Priceline Hotel: How much to bid for 5* hotel in Rome in beginning of September

Hi, 

 

I'm looking to bid for a 5* hotel in Rome for the first weekend in September. I imagine the prices will be high at this time, given it's the last weekend before schools start. Can you give me an indication of whether it's worth using priceline. I imagine I will have to bid for $250, but not sure if this would be worth it, given even 5* hotels can vary considerably.
